Title: Fitting a GT3076R whats involved?
Post by: Koose on September 01, 2010, 04:11:51 PM
Hi guys

I have a GT3076R turbo lying around. Im thinking with supporting mods, itll make my turboII quicker, can anyone advise what ill need to fit it ? Where can i get headers with a t3 flange? Does anyone do a downpipe with a 3" vband connection ?

What sort of injectors will i need?

Mark

You may be better off having a manifold made up, it will probably cost you the same as tracking one down and shipping it here!

Supporting mods is going to be the issue! You will really need to get a larger IC (probably V or Front mount - if you go front mount you need to be sure you are getting enough cool air to the rad) V-bands are easy enough to get hold of. You will need an aftermarket ECU (Microtech, Haltech, etc) or a piggyback like the E-Manage

You will also find that the stock ports may then become a limiting factor in generating power. Thing is if you are going down the route of upgrading the turbo, you may as well go for a larger turbo than a 3076, or at least get the rest of the ancillaries up to a point where they will cope with a further turbo upgrade because you may find the 3076 isn\'t generating masses more power because it isn\'t big enough to cope with the amount of exhaust gases the rotary produces. I may be wrong about that as I can\'t remember how big the 3076 actually is....

try ringing some of the tuners as they will be able to advise you very well. they also may have some manifolds and additional parts knocking about

What power/boost are you wanting to run? You need to upgrade all supporting systems like cooling, fueling and electrical systems etc first

Erm, 280 ? But if its a little more thats ok.

Got a 3 core alloy rad, electric fan and new waterpump coming.

Got an HKS 3" back exhaust

So then i suppose id want a FMIC, bigger injectors, maybe a fuel reg (adjustable) and management ?

Anything else ? Im new to rotary tuning.

I would suggest uprated secondary injectors and an aftermarket ECU like an e-manage, you can get 280 on a stock turbo lol

I would suggest you set a maximum boost level and then see what power you get, 1 bar is fine every day, 1.2 bar is max, 1.4 bar is ok if you are running water injection, anything more than that the engine life decreases.

I would suggest V mount to reduce lag, check around here for options and research what is needed :)
