if i get a hks downpipe will i need to get my pfc remaped again? will a down pipe make much difference to power? where can i get 1?:3Confused
It does depend on the rest of your exhaust system, if its a free flowing system from downpipe back then a HKS downpipe will increase the flow, therefore on your map you may suffer from boost creep or spike !!
If however your running near stock exhaust then the downpipe will only free up some flow. So you could run the risk but i wouldn\'t.
Where to get one depends on how much you want to spend, they do come up on ebay and in the for sale section every so often. If you want to source a new one then RHDjapan, or any of the specialists should be able to point you in the right direction.
HTH
I have a second-hand one cheap if you want it. Bit of surface rust but sound. I had it on a car with a decat and not even an aftermarket ECU and it ran fine, the car only broke cos I crashed it hahaha. Not that I\'d advocate trying this, if it were me I\'d want the map looked at just in case, it\'s just I knew less then. Ignorance was bliss :rollin
the exhaust is staight through and been mapped for that, does a down pipe make that much of a difference that i would need a remap again if i fit a hks downpipe?

I would take that of Nik if I was you !! I did say they come up but not that often :mmmm.
To be honest every car is different, because you have had the map for more exhaust flow, you could be alright. depending on how conservative the map was will see if you get any fuel problems, and depending how well your boost controller regulates boost. If you see any problems then drive it carefully until you get a few more mods under the hood and get it mapped again.
Hi Nik i would be happy to buy yours, how much u want for it?
Well, it looks like this atm;

As you can see, it\'s surface rust but I guess due to the condition I wouldn\'t want too much for it

No cracks or damage to the important bit;

...and a nice big gaping orifice the other end :D

If you\'re still interested, would £50 plus the postage seem acceptable, given it could do with a good clean-up? That\'s probably about half price over what they normally go for.
Is its hks?
Well, it\'s not marked but I\'ve been told that\'s what it is by several people who know about such things. I think you\'ll find all the downpipes for twins are pretty much the same, just with different names on them; Amemiya, FEED, Border, TFR, Fujimura etc are all identical because they\'re made by HKS and then logo-ed up by the shop selling them.
If you don\'t want it, no problem, it can carry on sitting on a shelf in the garage, no skin of my nose dude
the hks downpipes are not labled \'HKS\' they have a number stamped on it though which can be googled.
Niks one does look hks and even surface rusty thats a bargan lol
ok nik i will take it! how do you want payment?
Well, Paypal\'s as good as anything if that\'s Ok with you? If you could make it a gift though so I don\'t get nobbled for fees that\'d be grand. I think postage will be about eight quid, if that\'s cool? My Paypal addy\'s nick.liassides@ntlworld.com
Do you want be to whizz it over with a flap wheel, knock the rust off before I send it? That way all you have to do is give it a quick lick of ultra high temp paint and it\'s good to go. Or just let it get rusty again hahaha
yea that would be perfect!:Thumbs-up so i will send a payment of £58 to you through paypal.
Cheers, that\'d be groovy! Don\'t forget to include your address, yeah?

Thankyou kindly. I cleaned it up earlier today, so I\'ll get it in the post to you tomorrow morning dude :Thumbs-up
perfect! cheers mate, just hope it dont make the boost creep!:rollin
Hopefully, it\'ll help prevent boost creep by evacuating more gas from the wastegate area. The only way to really cure boost creep is to port out the wastegate housing, because that\'s the restriction that really causes it.
Now, boost spikes....well, maybe..... your PFC should be able to manage the boost control solenoid well enough to prevent any spikes, but if you do find the fuel cut keeps playing up look on it as an excuse to get a trick boost controller too :rollin
Only kidding, it should be fine if you\'ve been already running decat with no problems. Just out of interest, doesn\'t it get frustrating running a Rex in Orkney? You must never get out of third gear :eek:
When i first got the de-cat on i got boost creep! so put it all the way down to pip! and got him to fit the pfc and give it remap, i should have had a d.pipe on it before it went but never mind! hopefully it will be ok, i will start taking the old one off tonight. And yes the roads in Orkney are crap! lol but there is a few good straights, its good because im the only one with a rex here and most others have scoobies or evos and they are no match for the rex on a straight!:Giggle Oh lol i see you own a 06 636 ninja! lol i have a 04 one! hopefully get my liscence for it soon 2! now that will be fun! lol
got the downpipe! cheers:Thumbs-up but is it safe to try it on?:xconfused the reason i got a powerfc and got a remap was because when i removed the cat i got boost creap! so the remap sorted it. just wonder it this downpipe will cause boost creap again? if i put it on whats the worst that could happen? lol
