Title: Rotorstock 7 Photographs?
Post by: CHC (RIP) on August 24, 2010, 03:11:50 PM
Okay Guys, there was quite a fuss jeering up enthusiasm to get FB owners away from their slippers & pipes to attend this venue.
So where are the foto\'s or did everybody forget to take their cameras with them.
Did anybody manage to get a collective foto of the 1st Gen attendees?

You got some good pics there Ian, you should\'ve walked around with a big sign though because I still didn\'t bump into you and I loitered around my car as much as possible!

It was a good day all in all - nice to put a couple of faces to names, but I too missed the mystery man with the yellow FB. A lot of effort has gone into that car for sure.

Managed to get my hands dirty fiddling with some oily bits - I trust you made it back after I touched it Tim?

I was dwelling by your car for a couple of hours Tim, not a sign of you!
Problem is, unless someone is with their car, you have no idea of knowing who is who.
I was talking to Marc and Karissa as I had seen them arrive. I also saw Shaun from the other side of the drag strip.
I\'ll take my FB to the next meet to identify myself.

That white fb was parked near me out in the car park. I had a good look around it.... it really was as nice as it looks in the photos.
Gotta say Mark, the work you\'ve put into your car is amazing, the finish is stunning. RESPECT!!!

P.S. Where did you get your white dials from?

Definitely missed a good turn out here.

A very interesting selection of variations. styles and colours
Can\'t decide whether looks better with or without side mouldings but just hope mine meets expectations and is as good as these.

thanks although its starting to look a little bit tired in places from my point of view, there was certainly a lot of good gen 1\'s there very honoured and shocked to have won a trophy
The white dials came from ebay a long time ago! think possibly Oz although im not 100% there may be something in my build thread, i remember i had to sand the original faces away and paint the needles for it to work

Quote from: Marcrs;713148see, now I\'m intrigued... ;)

The jist of the conversation was...

"you want more midrange grunt for no money?"

"sure I do!"

"gimme a cable tie then"

And that was that,I had a rummage in my tools and found a small cable tie and Ramon gave me poor mans mechanical secondaries.

There is a noticable increase in willingness to pull through the midrange and it sounds awesome.:burnout

I\'m sure there will be techies shaking their heads reading this but who cares, it was cheap and it works:Giggle

Cheers again Ramon...

I\'ll get some photos later mate and a quick write up it\'s easy peasy, but you need the really thin cable ties really-2mm wide jobbies. If Ramon gets online it might be better if he does a paragraph that makes sense rather than me doing an essay that confuses everyone including myself.:D

For a proper bodge you need to put a gasket either side of the accelerator pump diaphragm, to help reduce the huge flat spot!

To be fair I found you just have to adjust driving style so as long as you\'re nice and progressive it is fine. Granted if you plant it without warning you get a hiccup but apart from that no probs. I\'m willing to forgoe that for a bit more umph!:Giggle

Fuel consumption is horrific at best, but it\'s fun-so I\'m happy.:mmmm

you\'ll lose that hiccup if you adjust the accellerator pump to cope with the extra demand for fuel.

Yep, adding extra fuel will help with the flatspot, but as I didnt have any gasket paper to hand I decided to forgoe that part...

Hmm - instructions? Would be easier with pictures, but:

If you can identify the primary and secondary throttle arms on the lhs of the carb near the firewall, you will see that when you press the throttle only the primaries open - but there is a lever that moves in the same arc to essentially release the secondary throttles. If you cable tie the secondary throttle arm to this then it will pull the secondary throttles open at the same time as the primaries - causing both a flatspot at low rpm/high throttle and extra midrange when floored at the right time.

Be careful that it is not too tight or the throttle will be held open at idle, or worse, jam open and not too loose as it will jump slip off.

Peak power shouldnt change, but the feel is different an makes the drive a little more fun.

Not sure if I explained that right - but if Tim has a photo then that would help.

Cheers Ramon I\'ll get a photo when it stops raining, somewhen next week no doubt! Next time I see you I expect you to be fully armed with gasket paper.

Just read the link from Ian which is interesting-didn\'t realise how tuneable a Nikki is.
