Title: Dirt and Lust
Post by: David Nock (RIP) on August 21, 2010, 05:57:16 PM
Has anyone else with an S3 discovered that the thin steel brake air ducts behind the louvered slots in the nose valence disintegrate quite quickly?

I can picture the scene in the Hiroshima design department in the 1980\'s as the young graduate designer shows off his brake duct design to his Chief.

"Herro Inspector San, wa you think this design for new brake ducts on facerift RX7?".

"Is fine design from Performing Arts Graduate Grasshopper, but will get much dirt and lust".

And it came to be so.

They are only held on by 2 screws accessed easily from under the front. Why oh why didn\'t I pull \'em out and repaint every 2 or 3 years to stop \'em disintegrating? Because now the screws are rusted up as well as the ducts being all motheaten.

I don\'t suppose they serve much purpose for steady street use, only useful if you cook the brakes a lot?
