Well, engine removal was all going smoothly until I came to the last 2 nuts - the upper two PPF > gearbox nuts.
After much heaving, they came undone with a crack. Or so I thought. Much turning later, and they were still turning. It looks like both of the captive bits have uncaptivified themselve, and I now have no way of shifting them.
Any ideas at all, other than petrol or a match? there\'s not enough room to get a pair of nuts on to lock he thread, and I really don\'t want to have to cut a hole in the floorpan :(
Anyone ever had this? At my wit\'s end with this heap of junk now. :(
If You take off the shifter surround and all the boots etc on the interior, you should be able to hold the top of the bolts with a spanner
They aren\'t bolt though, that\'s the prob. They appear to be just round heads, like wheel studs.
Really??! I thought the collar that held them was a hex collar holding the bolt head?
By jove Mr Jit, I think you may be right...

Now, time to try and find a 21mm spanner...
Freakin\' love you man! :D
these little barstuards, i have a shell with pretty much the only thing left on the car was the gearbox and could i get the buggers off,two bloody hours, untill i tightened them up and cleaned the threads up better and got a spanner ont the top they came off okdid not help i only had the car sat on a 4" block,
but anyway i digress lol glad you sorted sih
Not off yet. Haven\'t got a spanner that fits! can\'t remember what size it is can you Rob? Ready to torch the thing atm. I\'m guessing it may be 21 as that\'s what the bolts are? Can\'t get to the damn threads to clean them. Thinking maybe a swan neck spanner through the lever hole?
