Post by: rx-dave on August 12, 2010, 12:53:20 PM
Just removed the plugs from a poorly running FD3S, the front rotor plugs were a bit sooty and black but the rears were really clean........any ideas??

is the engine stock? does it sound like a tractor, the boost fluctuating in vacuum, could indicate a chipped apex seal

Would change the plugs first to see if this cures, then check the coil leads and then the coil packs themselves

Yes it\'s a stock engine that hasn\'t run for a couple of years i believe. I tow started it on the weekend and it started pretty quickly but i had to keep blipping the throttle to keep it running as it wouldn\'t idle.
Took out the plugs today but i didn\'t get to try to start it as the starter has been burned out :2Rolleyes. Will see if she fires up then try the leads then coils but i suppose a compression test would be easier.........once i\'ve changed the starter :Giggle.
