Title: Is it a question of a special tire ?
Post by: michaelb on August 11, 2010, 07:25:46 PM
Hi

I have just had my alloys repaired and colour coded by Wicked Wheels

I am really pleased with the results – it took them only 2.5 hrs right outside of my home

I would like to buy tires which “stick out” a touch away from the rims so when I “accidentally” get too close to the curb, the curb will hit the tire first and not the rim of the alloy

Is it a question of a special tire and if so what do you recommend? I have 17" alloys with low profile tires

Regards

Thanks for ther reply

I guess that is what I am taking about, do I just ask the tire shop, do they have a special or type or is it called rim protection?

Most high end tyres like Goodyear Eagle F1s have a rim protector

Decide what tyres you want then just confirm with your supplier that they have rim protectors. (tire is American spelling, that\'s why you get wiggly lines under tyre)

Guys

Many thanks for your replies

I shall look for better tyres, note the English spelling LOL, I guess my spell check is an American one as tyre comes up as a spelling mistake

Most tyres have rim protectors.

What you need to look at is the width of your wheels and get the correct width tyre to suit.

No point putting a 225 tyre on a 10J rim  as it will be stretched and leave the rim exposed.

How much does the wheel repair cost? Mine are looking a bit shabby as of late!

Hi

I paid £65 plus Vat per wheel for mine to be repaired and painted in white

I must say they look like new â€" in fact I was shocked how good they come out

Try http://www.wickedwheels.co.uk/
