Title: Thoughts on Replica Fortune Kit
Post by: wiggman2030 on August 10, 2010, 04:48:14 PM
Just like to know your thoughts on this. The kit itself is £4995 but if you ring them up and ask nicely you can get it down to £3995  Not sure if this is worth buying or not as for some reason the package price is £15,000 which includes spraying and fitting. £10,000 to fit and spray seems a bit exessive but hey? What do you think, would you spend £4995 on a replica kit?

It may be a good replica, but isn\'t that a bit like saying that someone does a very good impression of Hitler?

Now I\'m not saying that the Fortune has actually committed genocide, but I\'ve heard it certainly shares some Mel Gibson-esque ideals.

The reason the must charge 10K to fit the kit is it must be a bad fitment and alot of labour hours are needed to sort it.

The original kit just bolts straight on, then blending in.

ahh, the old Fortune debate. Love it or hate it you have to admire Veilside for their continued support and vision for all things Jap.
The one above as said must be a bad fit if you need that much labour.

(the Fortune kit incidentally is horrid IMO, does nothing for the car, and in fact ruins it as it replaces all the sexy curves with straight edges. Imagine your size 10, 32DD bird coming home one night and instead of putting on hot undies jumped into an Oxo-cube fancy dress outfit. Same principle....)

that seems like a good price for the kit but the price would probably be reflected by the fitment. However, i doubt the original kit is just bolt on and go like it has been suggested anyway. From my experience of genuine veilside components there always seems to be some fettling to get the kits fitting right.

If you would like a chat about the kit, as i have experience in this field, i would be happy to talk to a fellow wide rx7 owner; especially one venturing into the wide arch club :) (check my other thread)

I have a genuine Veilside Fortune kit & can comfortably say that the parts, bumpers etc fit easily as well as the OE mazda parts!
Cant comment on the Replica kit but i dont think Veilside make will make the genuine one anymore so it may be your only option!
