Title: Non starter has started but won\'t run very well :o)
Post by: rx-dave on August 08, 2010, 05:04:11 PM
I\'ve had a 1992 plate RX7 sitting in the corner of my drive for several months that hasn\'t run for a couple of years. I bought it as a non starter and used it for bits for my other RX7 but i decided to put it back together this weekend to get it moved as my mrs keeps moaning it\'s an eyesore .
There is no airbox or mid & rear section of exhaust but i thought we\'d try and tow start it this morning, it started within a few seconds but the only way to keep it running is to keep blipping the throttle as it won\'t idle.
Would the missing exhaust and airbox stop it from idling or does it sound like new engine time? I\'ve already secured an engine but it\'d be easier not to have to change it.........for a while anyway :Giggle.

IAC valve sticky? used to get poor idle and cutting out on the Mazda 121 all we used to do is take them off and soak them in brake cleaner.
