Hi guys
I\'m away in Shang Hai for work and bored enough to think about what can be done to my FC :Giggle
Anyone know how i can increase the Maximium steering angle for the RX7? I saw lots for the silvia\'s but struggle to find some for the FC. anyone did it to there rx?
Cheers
Louis
Most comman ways are putting a spacers on steering rack to enable then to push & pull further but the best mod is to modify the hub knuckles, you shorten the arm that the steering rack rods sits in & gives you mega lock!!

Mazdatrix do an angle (10 degrees) and bump steer kit which is good for low cars. It\'s effectively a spacer but much bigger and safer. Then you will also need some modified lower control arms if you\'re using modified hubs. Nickson motorsports do the lca\'s and they\'re 550 ish a go. They give you a wider track tho, so you\'ll also need adjustable top mounts unless you wanna run 10 degrees camber.
Basically to achieve maximum angle you\'re looking at spending £1500 in parts. Maybe less depending on how you do it. Or you could just go for the 10 degrees extra which will cost you over £100 or 5 degrees which will cost you about £1
I understand the theory with the modified hub, but i still cannot understand the concepts for the spacers. if you put a spacer on wouldnt that be permanently toe in/out and wouldnt pull as far back? I did some research on internet and still confused ><
I believe spacers help widen your track & give you more stablity & not forgetting that once you increase you steering angle your be rubbing the linings & chassis when you are on full lock, so spacers will help prevent rubbing.
satoru works do them and the come in cool colours
or powered by max make them for fc\'s
here is a write up on the spacer install on an mx5. As you can see, the car is re aligned for toe http://www.driftworks.com/forum/drift-car-projects-builds/113021-mx5-nb-skidder-2.html#post1448311
that spacer method seems great. 2 pounds for such a big angle. powered by max would be best choice but its 70 times more expensive...
Anyone done the spacer method on their FC? if so any rubbing on the chassis or lining?
Cheers

seen a couple of people doing it. Though i wouldn\'t go for the dw spacers. They\'re 3.3mm each and the maximum you can get away with is 6mm. You shouldn\'t get any rubbing problems with the spacers, only when you\'re running silly angle do you need to think bout chassis modification
Are you meaning the DW spacers is not thick enough? if so do you know what size (diameter) of spacer i should get so that i can get some thicker ones.

6mm!? How much thread can you get in the rack with those?
was going on what fc3s pro recomend
cant see the us cars being THAT different

Fair enough :D thanks for the info!
Been reading the FC3s pro site and found out something about the DTSS. did some research and rx7club had quite

wrong button ==
so on rx7 club theres some argument about eliminating the DTSS. Anyone here eliminated that before? myself i would like get the DTSS working again tho, but mazda only sell the bushes with the hub as usual....
As well, I\'m gona replace all suspension bushes on the FC, power flex, superpro dont do them. found a company called \'Energy Suspension\' and they do a polyurethane master kit (whole set) for 110USD. anyone tried them before? or any other suggestion?
Cheers :cheers

I installed my dtss elimenators just last month, depends what you want out of your car but if your after a perdicable solid back end, then get shot of them!

Is the car always in oversteer mode or understeer mode then?
ive got a prothane total kit that cost around £70 and covers the entire front of the car, want solid bush the rear though.
Personally i\'d delete the rear steer. Ive had two fc\'s with it, one which was tight and one which was loose. Tight one was fairly predictable but i found it to be unpredictable at high speed cornering, specially on the limit. Also the required steering input is very different depending on how much you\'re accelerating. The loose ones were a night mare. Though i found that with a welded diff, you can put alot of power down earlier in the corner. As for skidding with them, i just wouldn\'t bother, its hard to tell what the car is doing, and its hard to judge which way youre going to go when you regain grip.
With the rear steer eliminated the car is so much nicer, its more predictable and the rear end is solid. You can through it into a corner and only have to worry about understeer when you\'re going to fast.
Oversteer understeer is more down to you\'re tires and centre of gravity
Thanks for the info dthebuk ! :)
as the FC is mainly for drift purpose i guess is good idea to get rid of it.
side question here. I\'m putting up my FC to 300hp and after calculation the fuel injectors will be on the limit. On the ebay is all from the states. Anywhere i can get aftermarket ones from UK? or will the FD 850 secondary fit on the FC secondary?
thanks

Would agree.... loose those rear steers!
if your\'re staying stock turbo. you dont NEED to change the injectors, though you have a pfc don\'t you? No idea about what fits, but im pretty sure you can just crank up the boost to 0.9 bar and it\'ll be fine. Just make sure both of your fuel filters are in good condition and that you have a map. Oh and you also might wanna rewire the fuel pump. Should be a write up on fc3s pro. Ive heard of people running more boost but there wasn\'t a massive advantage
Yea I have seen people here making 300 without changing the fuel system from memory, correct? Yes i have a PFC, still need to sort out the faulty datalogit when im back from Shanghei tho.
I did some calculation I will need at least 600cc injectors each to make 300hp. altho thats for the piston engine and i assumed mine is a 2.6 litre in the formula. And on FCpro they said 250hp is max from the stock FC pump. definitly rewiring the fuel pump tho. If im sticking with stock injector I will give it a clean and flow test as well to be on the safe side. At the end my target is 300hp at flywheel. enough for a stripped out FC :)
soooo many confusion moving from piston to rotary :2Rolleyes slowly building up my knowledge.
thanks

well you could uprate the fuel stuff for piece of mind but it isn\'t fully needed. not sure on the calculations but that sounds wrong.
Also i\'d suggest running bigger secondaries and standard primaries if you were to upgrade. And don\'t forget you\'ll need it all mapped. tbh on the stock turbo, there\'s not much need for the PFC. Plently of piggy back plug and play solutions that can take you to 300bhp on the stock system
I\'m looking at putting the Sard 800cc at the secondary. 140 pounds for 2 with p&p, sounds right?
I got the PFC thot its a good investment, as well when i have the money i will upgrade to a bigger turbo as well. all depends if i can get a good pay job during the placment year tho :D waiting for the engine to die then I can rebuild and port it. but it seems pretty healthy atm tho lol.
thanks for the info :)
