Title: Stupid thief
Post by: 1990_fc3s_t2 on August 04, 2010, 06:26:02 PM
Noticed my back gate was open the other morning when going to work, closed it and headed off to work thinking id left it on the latch and the wind had blown it open, bad latch that needs to be locked or it doesnt stay shut.
Anyway when i eventually went out the back i noticed a bag on the floor that did have dust sheets in which were now under my car? other than that everything looked normal, then i couldnt find my drill and realised some scum bag has been in my garage at night.

Should mention its really a shed that i can fit my car in and only just walk around it. I had removed the back so i could drive the car out into the garden for more space (you wouldnt know this unless you were in the garden)
So i started scanning around to see if anything else was missing all looked as it should, turns out all they stole (that ive noticed) is a cheapo aldi cordless drill its charger that was on its last legs! held its charge for about 10 mins.
They left a nearly new makita grinder, mig welder, £1000 sunn mountain bike, brand new magnecore plug wires, petrol hedge cutter and strimmer:D

Needless to say my bike is now in the house!
Im thinking of putting like a trellis type thing right along the top of my fence and grow something along it to try deter any inbred dirtstain from entering my garden!

Yeah but its hard to grow razor wire this time of year!
It does make me laugh though how stupid some people are. But even if they are stupid I still bloody hate thieves. Should have body parts cut off when they get nabbed in my opinion.

Yeah too true, lose a finger with some big tin snips everytime they get caught!
Feel kinda stupid myself for leaving expensive stuff lying around, luckily got a cheap wake up call!
Must say i did think of razor wire but looks awful and my garden doesnt look great already without making it look like a prison! i thought at least with the trellis it looks ok and if anyone tries to climb over they would probably break it and hopefully make enough noise to stop them going any further.

Well it either that or you kit the garden/garage out Home Alone style with micro machines, paint tins on string, blow torches at head hight and well placed sticky up nails!

a guy at work said nail carpet grip along the back of the fence or 4inch nails pointing up at an angle but that would look abit dodgy! :Giggle
My stuff is all inside or locked up now just gotta put the garage back together and maybe set up some dangerous obstacles for when they next jump my fence! :evillaugh

how about growing some huge a$$ cacti along your fence? :p
i believe you might get in trouble for "leaving dangerous obstacles" around.

Pyrocantha -  A fast growing evergreen shrub with small dark green leaves and gaily coloured berries in season (colours/varieties available) as long as there is another nearby for bees to cross-pollinate it with. It can be trimmed and cut back like a hedge as well as trained along a trellis. Oh yes, when mature it has long, viciously sharp, tines that go straight through even armour plated garden gloves and hurt like ****. They break off at the base to stay with their new host for quite some time too, which is deeply satisfying - as long as it is not you.

You will receive compliments not complaints about your environmental improvemens and you\'ve still got the petrol hedge trimmer. :D
Who wants to look at razor wire?

I\'ve made a cat cannon, it\'s a box with a spray jet on the top, connected to a garden hose, fed through 3 washing machine inlet valves controlled by a PIR sensor from an old security light.i can move it round the garden. at least i could make them wet! now if i could rig this up to spray green permanent dye, the worst i could end up with is a green lawn!

Sorry, can\'t do the garden detail you\'ll have to ask at the garden centre. It does grow quite fast though and you can train it along the trellis on top of the fence so don\'t go mad.   Suppose it depends on how green your fingers are but the more plants you have, the more of it you have to keep trimmed at ground level assuming it\'s on your side of the fence. After a season\'s growing you should have the beginnings of a nice green deterrent. Good luck.

Pyracantha has nasty spikes which break off & tend to infect the area of the skin theyve punctured.
For a good screen,plant 2 per metre,so 10m,is approx 18>20 plants.
