hi, dont know if anyone else here has heard this but i have some new re style headlamps and they have no beam pattern, so i was worried about the dreaded mot, however a test station the garage i work for sometimes uses (motmax in lincoln) has told me the law has changed in the last few weeks and that a beam pattern is no longer an mot requirement, only the the main body of the beam falls below the upper line on the beam tester, hope that helps anyone with these aftermarket lights worried about test time, jon.
hi Jon, There is still a beam pattern in the VOSA manual, I\'ll try to post the link:
http://www.transportoffice.gov.uk/crt/doitonline/bl/mottestingmanualsandguides/mottestingmanualsandguides.htm
Section 1.7 and 1.8 of the car inspection manuals show a beam patt test. The 1st diagram is for Euro Headlights with CE marking.
But if changed only in last few weeks then.....??
quick update, went for mot yesterday and 2 big circles in the beam tester but didnt fail as they are below the testing line and wont dazzle on coming traffic. failed on the emmisions of course. lol....
