Title: Car Lunging Backwards and Forwards
Post by: wiggman2030 on July 27, 2010, 06:57:10 PM
Hi, Just wondering if anyone knows what my problem could be.  Basically when I touch the throttle or take my foot off of the throttle the car lunges backwards and forwards. This is worse in the lower gears and not very noticable in 4th and 5th. It doesn\'t seem to matter how lightly I press the pedal it still manages to do a little dance lol. any help would be appreciated.

What sort of mileage has the car done?  I\'d start looking at mounts first off.

about 96,000.  I recently had the engine mounts changed as one was broken and I have also changed the rear pillow ball bushes as someone said that they could contribute to this They were knocking anyway so I thought I\'d change them. I have had this problem since I purchased the car which was about a year ago now. It would be nice to get it fixed.

i also get this slightly but mine is far from being standard. just have a look at your throttle cable. i adjusted mine and it made it alot better. i have just bought a diff brace so will see if that makes any difference.

Could be a vacuum leak.

I had the car on the ramp today and checked the mounts, they all look ok. I do still have a cat but this is getting changed soon to a decat pipe so I will see whether that sorts it. I\'m worried that the problem could be the prop shaft. There is some play at the diff end which is a little sloppy (causing "backlash") but I couldn\'t check the transmission end as the cat is in the way. My guess is that the guy who had the car before me was not lifting off the accelerator when the back wheels were hopping about which has caused damage to the prop. I was told there is no real way to fix this. If anyone else has some advice as to what else could be causing the problem or whether or not what i\'m saying sounds correct it would be appreciated. I would love to get this fixed as it ruins the feel of the car.

I noticed yesterday while driving the car that I seem to get what can only be described as an ooooooooooooing noise which seems to be coming from the back. The sound is really hard to locate as the noise bounces around inside the car, It doesn\'t do this all the time just every so often, It seems to be more frequent after the lunging so I\'m guessing they are connected. I getting the car back from it\'s 1000 mile run in soon and I\'m afraid to put my foot down in case something goes horribly wrong. Any Ideas?
