Title: Mileometer Change
Post by: Pag-Rx7 on July 27, 2010, 03:48:51 PM
Hi guys,

Just a quick question..

Im looking into finally gettin my rex rebuilt by hayward or jimmys now, the problem is the car is reading 118000km since the first and second engine.

Once ive had to the rebuild done id like it start from 0km again and just completely renew the car to perfect condition again, its kinda a pet hate of mine seeing all those KM on the dash when i know its done 30000km since the new engine let alone a fresh rebuilt.

Anyone have any past exp in this stuff?

zach

You can get the mileage reset/changed.

As I understand it It\'s illegal to do this and not inform the new owner when you sell it.

I had a car reset once and found a company of the net who did it.

Plugged some software in and it could read anything you like.

the fd is somewhat hard though, as far as i know the chip cannot be accurately adjusted to say what you want, with any current kit out there, but if a specialist has a wide selection of eprom dumps then they can often get it pretty close by reflashing. Speak to Super-7, henfield.

You could try Tune-Tec Ltd. (Tel. 0845 603 2144, email: Jason Payne ). They\'re based in Birmingham, but I believe they have other agents around the country.

I spoke to them about changing the odometer on my FD (just \'cos I hate the mix of kms & miles!). They quoted £140 to do it at the time (sometime last year). They can\'t change the existing chip reading, but put in a \'dataset\' with the reading you want.

Hope that helps... :)

Let us know if you use them as I still haven\'t got around to doing it yet!!
