As above im after an MOT centre in that area that will be kind to my RX7, the thing im worried about is the emissions because its decatted, also the airpump has been disconected but is still in the engine bay if i plug it in will that lower my emissions?
this is my 2nd MOT and the first time there wasnt any problems because it was almost stock.
Cheers in advance,
Kris

This might help if you got a apexi.
If not i have about £10 of fuel in the tank and stick a bottle of cata clean in. Availible from mazda rotary parts.
Its allways good if the machine reads the emissions before the start of the test.
That way you know when to start the test.
Keith.
cheers mate, i read that thread but im not to keen with messing with the PFC myself but is it easy to do? what menu is it under and im guessing you need to return it back to normal once mot is done?
Kris
Its under settings, Pim volts, I will try and do a video of it. And yes put it straight back after test.
Or go the cataclean route.
Keith.
cheers dude a video would be awesome so i can see so i dont mess it up,
Cheers
Kris

Basically go to settings, Pim volt, 1000rpm scroll down the % to around 66%, pass test and scroll back to 100%. Then press previous till you get to monitor select that then next, back to the display.
Keith. lol, clear as mud.
cheers dude that is awesome, i will do that, what does it actually do by the way? does it cut fuel?
Kris

Yes, just cuts the amount of fuel.
Keith.
:cheers
If you do need some help you could try Brian at Mech Repairs in Cheltenham (01242 243385). He doesn\'t do the MOT but has a couple of MOT test stations that they use. If you need some setting up before hand they have a lot of experience with various programmable ECUs. He can test your emmisions before hand so it won\'t fail at the MOT station.
They aren\'t rotary specialists and my car was there for a couple of months while we stuck a V8 in it but an experienced garage all the same.
didnt realise there was another rx7 round here lol? i know of a good mot place but its in melksham near swindon....
yep, exactly what i did on my last MOT, 66% was the charm.
If you change to 850cc primarys though its not gonna be possible, on my next mot i might stick the cat back on for the day and see if it will pass

Kris
what year is your car? Pre 95 imports didnt need a cat i think, and i believe there is some different emissions test you can do.
im not sure on any of this though. Never had a problem with the fc though
im from bourton on the water mate! yeh rotorstock sounds good, as long as im back on the road by then!
mine is an L Reg so its 1993 so should be good on that front, on another front i just had a look at my pim voltage and on all options they are all at 50% what does this mean?
Kris

when the car is idling, what % does your injector duty say?
injector duty on idle is around 6 or 7 percent on warm up its about 8.5 ish
Kris
hmmm, very strange, did the car come mapped or is it on a basemap?
if your really new to mapping you can map using pim voltage, thats how i learned at the start, then you move onto the inj map once you have learnt the basics.
that should in theory be at 100%....there are 2 parts, on that has rpm and the other that has voltage, can you check both to see what they say, that might give us a clue
yeah the car has been mapped il check those other readings for you 2mora
Kris
Hi Guys,
Please could someone help.
I know this is a rather old thread but I just need to check something with you.
I own a modified single UK RX7 FD and as a requirement of MOT, I\'ll need to do the idle, fast idle and with a cat fitted.
1. In the pim volts % do i just change 1000, 2000, 3000 rpm to cover these tests? I have done the 1000 and got down to around .3-5 Co @ 75% do I just do the same for 2000 and 3000?
2. And will the motor be ok and not DET whilst trying to move on and off the brake testers with these low fuel settings?
Cheers.
Maybe threads like this need to be kept on the down low?
A little bit like posting up high speed videos on youtube
admins, as i dont want to keep an old thread active or wrong message, please delete my previous two posts. If someone could PM me the answer it would be great, Its probably a YES to both questions.
Thanks.
