I have recently noticed a loud clunking noise coming from the front suspension area of my rex. This only happens when the car brakes heavily or when I turn the wheel to full lock. When I turn the wheel right the left had side clunks and vice versa. The noise is especially loud when turning slowly on full lock. Any ideas?
(http://www.instablogsimages.com/images/2010/04/14/hedge-formula-1-car_ELXTD_1292.jpg) bushes.. :Giggle:yes:Giggle:yes:2Rolleyes:cheers
Lol, well I didn\'t see those under the car! I think the noise might be a little too loud for bushes. The wheel also snapped into position slightly when it makes the noise too, like it\'s stuck on something but saying that there is no resistance on the wheel before hand.
Before you go driving around much more I would sugest that you need to get the car up on a jack and check ball joints, steering u/j\'s and the steering rack,
If you don\'t feel you can check this yourself get the car to a quick fit or tyre centre as most will check steering out free of charge
Yeah, I did have it on the ramp at work, jacked up both sides gave them both a wiggle but seems sturdy with no free movement, also looked from underneath. The car doesn\'t do it when it\'s still, the car has to be moving, I\'ll try turning with the wheel jacked up though. My anti roll bar bushes are slightly warn but that\'s about all I could see. I\'ll have a good try with the ball joints.
silly question but isnt not the coils in the spring binding i had this before a clean and an oil stopped it
I will check that too, thanks
Sorry to sound like a noob but what are steering u/j\'s?
Thanks
u/j universal joints I think I have a clunking noise from the front on mine but only seems to do it when I go over a bump or pot hole not tracked it down yet?
I had the car on the ramp today and found out that it was one of the top wishbone (or A arm) bushes on both sides of the car, can you replace just the bush or will I need to buy a new arm? if so where is the best place to get replacement parts?
If its the base of the \'A\' then you can get polybush replacements. If its the ball joint on the top of the \'A\' then they only supply with the arm !
Shaun
Yeah it\'s at the base of the arm, are they the same on both sides?
