Title: Removing front Suspension
Post by: Cashpoint on July 06, 2010, 04:46:37 PM
Tried to remove the front suspesion to get them rebuilt as i want to lower the front of the car but the thread has seized.

Was able to undo all bolts but there appears to be a bush bottom of the strut. How do I get this out? It\'s all that\'s left and really annoying as hadn\'t realised it was there.

i soaked all of my suspension in wd40 3 hours before i attacked it, came off very easily!

but yeah as above, should come out with a little persuasion.

either WD40 or diesel is quite good. you can also buy dedicated penetrants that work well.

i use a trolley jack handle for those really stubborn bolts, just be careful not to round it or spin it.

had the same thing on one side of mine when I changed my shocks in may, I re-bolted the top of the strut (3 bolts at the top) the used a 2lb copper & hide on the lower wish bone not nice but did the job.

Hope this helps.

I would say a little gentle tickle should do it you just have to hit it by the side of the strut be care full not to hit anything else like brake lines calliper etc etc :)
