hi guys does anyone know which engines u can put in the rx7 apart from the ls1 v8. cos i think i have seen before an rx7 with a nissan 200sx, and wanted to know where u cud get one of these fitted as thinking of getting a project car and engine swapping.
All swaps would require a new engine cradle. Plus other changes. So most of the shops have stayed with a few engine options. But I would imagine if you talked with Grannies etc. they might be able to fab what you need. I\'ve seen 383\'s swapped, LS1\'s, inline 6\'s etc. Just depends on how deep your pockets are.
hmmmm twin supercharged v8 with at least 600bhp with Torque 600Ib.ft; 0-60 3.9 secs with 200mph.

I\'ve seen ls1,ls6, lt1, and also 2jz (supra engine) The stock supra gearbox doesn\'t work well with the fd rear end though. Really need a 3.XX in the rear end. Otherwise all your gears end up way too short. Couldn\'t comment on a 200 sx swap, seems like a lot of work for not much of an upgrade IMO

iirc the SR20 swap was done by someone competing in Formula Drift (James Deane?). the guy wanted an engine he was familiar with more than anything, that was the only advantage to the swap.
That and the fact that it answered the question \'what would an FD be like if it sounded liek a bag of ass?\'.
Thre\'s a guy in the UK doing it at the mo too - he may be on here in fact. I\'ve been trying to encourage him to put the 13b in the donor S-body to make up for his sinning, but he\'s having none of it :(
SR\'s are very strong engines provided they are properly service, but I cna\'t see any major advantage in going for one over a rotary. Oh, and they sound terrible. Did I mention that?
Having done an LS1 conversion recently I will say it\'s a very good combination despite what the haters will say! If you want a bolt in solution then go on the norotors.com forum and look at the Samberg conversion kit. If you can find an LSx + T56 for reasonable money over here (which is the main reason there aren\'t more done) then your 90% of the way there! My stock LS1 has dyno\'d at 350 BHP and 350 lbs ft of torque (Don\'t believe the US figures they are all in La La land) and currently weighs just under 1200 kgs with a 50/50 weight distribution. Standard ECU so it drives very smoothly with instant acceleration from the low down grunt.

forged piston/cams/pullys/huge fuel system, 2 grand front brakes under 18inch light enkei [formula 1 maker] rims, hks 5k hks~t51kai ,60mm WG, screamer pipe, manifold, pipes... single turbo kit etc, nismo bodykit, conservative estimated of 610bhp [528awhp] on 1.3bar low boost in 4wd mode, about 700bhp+ @1.7bar approx on pump fuel [all 99 octane-no water or meth], and about 8-850bhp at over 2bar on c16 race fuel or e85. fuel support for 1200bhp. receipts 20-30k big folder - maintined as my baby.
being a ,32gtr, you can just remove a fuse or wire a cut-out switch to go from whn needed 4wd to just rwd for fun. r33 and r34 you cant do that without removing propshaft..
this car has the fuel support for 1200bhp, the turbo for 850bhp-ish-add a 150bhp shot of nitrous and its a 1000bhp car.. :Thumbsup!

sr20 would be a waste of time. If you wanted decent power out of it, it would be as "unreliable" as a rotary. Not to mention all the extra monies you\'d spend getting it in there.
V8 swap would be good, though the only one ive seen had a lot of extra work, it was by no means an easy swap. TBH the only engine id bother with is a detuned v8. Maybe a JZ but meh, might as well go v8
