failed on ABS not working, it\'s been disconnected and the sensors cut off, and one of the exhaust hangers wasn\'t attached.
Quite annoyed really as the abs wasn\'t a problem last time and my mate told me he attached the hanger when we fitted the exhuast the other day, gah!
oh, and one of the side repeaters doesn\'t work. going to need an entire new repeater as the old one is rusted to the bulb. papercutout suggested getting a motorbike one, anyone have any other idea\'s? (i\'ll probably end up with the motor bike one).
Also, i think I over ported my wastage, not hitting full boost till 3.5k now!! Does anyone know if i can alter this with an electronic boost controller? Surely that\'ll just keep the waste gate closed longer?
I might have an indicator thingy on my spare door - I\'ll have a looksie - but I think it\'s missing the orange \'darlek\' lens.
As for porting the wastegate too much - most likely thing is that the area for gases to push on is now much larger, so the exhaust can push the wastegate against the spring and open it a little. Replacement actuator will fix that - I can recommend the HKS one\'s - they really work ;) An electronic boost controller won\'t fix this.
Think I\'ve got a uk side repeater knocking around. if you need it.
deff need it adrian. Ive got your number still i think, so if i send you my address could you post one (or two, not really bothered about the second) when you get some free time. If you send me a pay pal address or something I\'ll send some money your way.
cheers, your a life saver!
dave - does the electric boost controller not control the pressure in the waste gate actuator? I\'ll have to look into the aftermarket actuator, but i really don\'t want to have to take the turbo off again
Ok mate I\'ll pop round to my parents as soon as I can a get it for you. Text me your address at some point and I\'ll get it sent to you. Don\'t worry about payment buy me a beer at rotorstock or something if you want to.
Not sure if I can make it, really want to though.
If im there i\'ll deff get you a beer though, cheers!

It does control the pressure of gas that goes into the wastegate to open the flapper - basically it \'holds off\' the boost until you\'re desired setting. If you go for aftermarket intake or exhaust, you end up with boost creep - because the wastegate is then too small - so like you\'ve done - you port it. The problem that can then sometimes happen - Mitch and I have both had the issue - is that the ported wastegate now has a much larger surface area for exhaust gases to push against it - and the spring in the wastegate hasn\'t been uprated - so net result is that the exhaust gas can now push open the flapper too early - at a point where the boost controller is still not allowing gases into the wastegate to tell it to open - so effectively it\'s coming in too early. A stronger spring in the actuator means you regain control of the lower end again.
You don\'t have to take the turbo off to fit these actuators - it can be done from under the car and from the front / above the turbo. You\'ll need to take intercooler / piping / induction off - but that should give you room to get into the turbo. It\'s fiddly - but if you\'ve got small enough hands you\'ll get it done ok :)
cheers for that prof, I always thought boost controllers changed the pressure in the actual actuator, thanks for clearing that up!
I wish I\'d checked the rest of the exhaust mounts now - still, easy fix. And everyone else seems to have the rest of the problems covered!
Did you underseal the rest of the underside too?
Ha Yea, they didn\'t turn a blind eye at the cable ties. It\'s just anoying that my mate told me he fitted it!
Nah havnt undersealed yet. Was too hot on sunday and I was being lazy! Thanks again for the help though mate, would be hating if you hadn\'t!
What are you going to do about the ABS fail? It\'s not as if all the TII\'s had it anyway!
:wave
Well the guy said I need to wire the light so it comes on with the ignition. Even though tw sensors are obviously cut off
Get a little 555 timer module from Maplins - about £5 - that will come on with ignition then go out. Should satisfy them ?
I wired my bulb in the idiots cluster to the ignition light in there, bit fiddly but works well. You will have to disable the ABS feed around the bulb with some tape or something and then just use a jumper wire from the ignition bulb. Thing is now my ABS works !! must have been air in mine.
