Title: Intercooler question
Post by: big_spin_flip on June 27, 2010, 06:51:02 PM
Hi all,

It\'s been a while since i\'ve been on the site. Been super busy and thanks to the recession, buying a house and a general distinct lack of cash my poor baby has been garaged for the last 2 years or so :(

So.... finally, I have begun to do the first steps toward putting her back on the road, and i\'m in the middle of prepping to clean a very dirty engine bay. As such, I have taken out the inlet manifold, air intake and and various bits so as to do a more thorough job, and now i\'ve taken out the intercooler (it\'s a V mount, definately not a standard set up either, done by some japanese drift nut by the look of it).

What I have found are 2 electrical connectors that do not appear to be attached to anything....

No 1:

This one is free floating (wasn\'t plugged into anything) and disappears up into the lhs of the engine bay

and No 2:

This one comes off a sort of brass coloured connector attached to one of the radiator fluid pipes (?) on the rhs of the engine bay.

Are these possibly from the original flat-mount intercooler?? If so, do you reckon I can remove them / cut them back and tape up to clear them out the way?

Cheers,
Flip.

definitely not from the intercooler, there aren\'t any electrical bits on there. do you have a Commander? might be worth turning it on and seeing if any sensors are showing up dead...

not sure about the big white one (something to do with lights maybe?) but the brass one looks like it\'s plugged into the power steering line (or is that aircon?).

Well, with reagrds to the brass one - I think it\'s the aircon, cos that pipe is part of the network that links back to the V mount.

I do have a commander, but i\'ve taken off the battery to make sure all electrics are safe while I clean so i\'ll have to head back at weekend and check it out. Don\'t remember any probs though.

The white one does look like lights. I have aftermarket fogs on an aftermarket front bumper... could it be from original fogs?

The joys of FDs :) I\'ve got a few wires in the car that have just been cut off and I have idea what they\'re for. One day I\'ll rip the seats and carpet out and figure it out.

Picture #2 is for the A/C.
