what should the standard oil gauge be reading?? mine seems to be very varied from anything from 0 to about 7
my oil pressure gauge is very random too.
Thats normal.
It all depends on the amount of revs,
Low revs low pressure. your engine isnt working as hard and therefore doesn\'t need as high pressure to lubricate
High revs high pressure. The opposite of above!
Just make sure you top up your oil regularily.
:)
My red FD used to spend most of the time with the oil pressure needle sat on the stop. My silver FD\'s used to float about a bit. They are notoriously shit, some are better than others, the sensor gets sludged up and they stop saying any thing meaningful. Get an after market gauge if it bothers u, although I\'ve always been of the opinion that it\'ll be too late by the time the gauge tells you some things wrong - by that time you\'ll know about it already from the clanking from the engine bay!
thanks for your help, just wanted to make sure of things as everything is new to me.
My oil pressure guage is pretty useless also. I was wondering if anyone had tried relocating the standard pressure sensor? (since it looks like it\'s just the location that\'s the problem)
I\'d like an aftermarket one, but I\'d like a standard one that works properly better :)
My TurboII sits steady at 25psi when idling, but I have found it accurate at letting me know when the oil needs topping up.
When it starts to show lower pressure than normal, the dipstick is just above the min level. Perhaps they relocated the sender for the 3rd gen?(http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/car.gif)
