I have been having a problem with my 87 FC staying running. The car will start the first time but one the car turns off it won\'t start back up for at least a full day. The car is an EGI non- turbo and about 3 months ago I was told from a parts place that the car calls for 10\'s in the plugs. Could it be the distributor?
are you getting a spark when it wont restart?
Not to sure I will have to check that this weekend.
ok, well first thing to check is weather it\'s flooded. If you remove the egi fuse from the engine bay, crank for a couple of seconds, replace the fuse and try again it should be fine.
if that doesn\'t work, chances are it will be spark or fuelling. If its the spark, i\'d start at the injector coil\'s and work up to the spark plugs. There are two versions of the s4 egi which are slightly different. My old one had a dizzy and i had a problem with one of the connectors on it causing the car to not start, though there is another set up which uses a CAS.
ahh ok I will take a look at that as well. What size plugs should I use with the motor, I was given 10\'s by the local parts store and they said that they were stock but I thought it was 9\'s.
Not sure. Have a look at mazdarotaryparts. If you\'re not
sure give Clive a call. Any update on the problem?
on an EGI i though it was 7\'s and 9\'s ??
Yeah thats what I thought too. The guy at the part place just argued about the subject so not to sure.
