Title: Grease on paint
Post by: padams2002 on May 20, 2004, 07:41:03 PM
Hi,

Ever since I got my FD I have found there is some kind of oily residue on the paint. It wont go away when I wash it. I tried t-cut on it and that got rid of a bit of it but didnt completly remove it.

Anyone else have this problem with a FD?

Anyone know where this grease could be coming from?

Any Ideas on how to get it of the paint?

Cheers

Paul

Probably needs a really deep clean.

Try the Zymol range of products, HD Cleanse gets everything nasty off the paint, and then a Wax like Carbon makes black shine like liquid.

It\'s a bit expensive, but it lasts for ages, and a tub of their wax will last you years.

Its all over the car but its like splash marks that point towards the back of the car. It looks like oil or something is coming from my engine and splashing over the rest of the car.

erm there are various products such as clay bars & cleaner fluids (at least that\'s what the main ones i have in my swissol kit are called) dunno what would be best as such for wotever it maybe on yer paint maybe worth trying a few i guess but i\'ve never had a problem with the top stuff ;)
Although if it\'s coming from engine i\'d be more concerned with finding the origine of the problem
good luck thou....

Have the tyres been sprayed with that stuff that makes them shine?  This stays greacy and can splash onto the paintwork.

ughhhhhh silicone spray ... the nightmares it causes when you try and paint a car is unreal ! it doesn\'t half make interior trim slippery too !

Yeah they have actually and that stuff is greacy.

The problem was there before I put that stuff on the tyres but the previous owner might have used something similar as the tires look very black in the pics of the car in japan.
