Title: Massive coolent leak
Post by: Frost on June 10, 2010, 01:36:43 PM
My car dropped all its coolent out in 10m on a roundabout last night at 1am and decided to give its self steam clean.

I know its somewhere near the back of the block on the drivers side but i didnt think there was any coolent pipes there.

Just so my life is made easier, what coolent stuff is around there?

not much... coolant pipe going off the back of the throttle body on the top of the block. there aren\'t that many coolant pipes in the whole block tbh, it wouldn\'t take long to check them all. the only two that are a real ....... are the turbo coolant lines.

Might be the heater matrix pipe as I think one runs near the drivers side in the engine bay?

Far as im aware all the heater matrix runs on the passanger side.

Coolant issues aside, you may have more issues once that is solved.  Would be corcerned about the coolant seals in general after overheating like that.

ive found the leak, it let go so fast i dont think there is any over heating issues cos i coasted to a stop.

I am hoping that the seals are ok, ive only got half of what i need for a rebuild.

It was running rather cool just before it let go, only just out the cold.
