Title: Visiting Tokyo
Post by: johnm on June 07, 2010, 03:19:44 AM
I am off to Tokyo, arrive 13 June, depart 20 June.

Does anyone know, what are the best car related things to see or do in or around Tokyo?

Thanks

John

Re-Amemiya in only a short bus ride from Narita airport, also head over to tokyo bay area to Odiaba for the toyota megadome and if any car shows are on they are usually held here.
Also the tokyo Super-autobacs megastore is in Shinonome.

Another good tip is pay 600yen for an option magazine (any seven11 store or the like) and they have loads of tuners ads etc in the back.

If you get the time fuji is well worth a visit.

I know it\'s not Mazda, but you could take the train to Yokohama and visit the Nissan plant, where they make the GT-R. They have a museum and showroom area

I went there before the R35 GT-R came out in the UK and was like a school kid, sitting in them, looking at the factory and seeing all the local cars flying about.

Failing that, you could look into going to one of the many Jap car auctions. The majority of them are shipped out from Yokohama, so there should be many auctions around the port area.

Try not to buy too many though!!
