Title: Apexi Power FC on stock car
Post by: Pantera Chris on May 30, 2010, 07:10:10 PM
Hi guys,

Im having to put my 92 FD3s back to standardish because it wasnt running right when it was sold to me (about 14-15psi spikes) and is now in the process of being rebuilt :(

The spec was:

- Apexi Power FC
- Straight through exhaust and decat (not front pipe)
- Twin HKS mushroom filters

Im putting the stock exhaust back on and my question is will the car run ok with the Apexi ECU in stock form? I have a FC commander to plug in to it. Do I need to reset the ECU back to default? How do I do this if so?

Also should I put the stock airbox back in to replace the HKS mushrooms?

Thanks,
Chris

If you are going back to complete standard, i\'ll take the Apexi Power FC off your hands :Thumbsup!

If the car is going back to stock, you should still run the powerFC as the jap ecu\'s are set for 100ron fuel! you will have to get it remapped for the reduced flow rate in the exhaust, but the bonus is, you are able to get it mapped for any fuel you like then... 95 - 99 ron!

I only ever run 99ron anyway so thats not a problem. Ill be resetting the ECU to stock map for now.

Thanks

which model power fc you got? basically the newer model has a better base map than the stock fd ecu\'s and you should be able to run exhaust filters and intercooler on it with no issues... i ran mine with decat, cat back, filters on it on the base map for ages, boost spike killed the engine off with det though :( might be worth finding someone with a afr jobby and check the levels...

you will get bored and fed up of the stock exhaust though its pants lol.

Malice. Exactly the same has happened to mine. Not exactly running safe was it! Killed both our engines!!!!

tbh mate, if your getting a rebuild done get the twins wastegate ported to stop the spikes...

Does a wastegate port require any other work to the tubbys or it is litterally drilling out the port and refitting turbo pack?

Also wouldnt a boost controller do the same job as porting the wastegate?

a boost controller helps against boost creep, but not against spikes so much, setting your primary boost % to a lower value on the power fc will help stop the first turbo from spiking to much
