Post by: brodierx7 on May 28, 2010, 09:35:20 PM
thats my rx7 booked in for a remap at wgt!:Thumbs-up i was wondering if enyone has eny idea how much power it could make? its got a apexi pfc/ bigger stock mount intercooler/hks induction kit/hks bov and straight through exhaust. So with a remap what could it make?

i\'d guess at 290, on stock boost? put up the results when you have had it mapped, as i will be running a similar setup in the near future and would be interested what you pull.

are you on a streetport and how much boost do you want to run?

Anywhere up to 340fwhp before the standard fuel system maxes out

I\'d put you in the 330-340 range, all being well :)
This was mine with similar mods:

Limiting factor there was the fuelling. Hardwire the pump with a relay and a feed stragiht from the battery before you go - super cheap mod, and will eek out a bit more power :)

That sounds like something i would try:yes, can you explain how you do that? or have enymore info? Cheers for the help!

thats her been mapped! she made 292hp, i thought it would be more but thats what she made on 95 octane fuel. that is on stock boost!

That\'s a bit disappointing :(
I guess it\'s all down to the fuel though :( Is 97/99 not available up there? I\'m guessing hard to get hold of :(

As I would expect on stock boost, 37bhp more then the stock of 255bhp is good given the OP\'s car is on a non rebuilt engine with stock downpipe

yea i thought it would be at least 300, anyone got any ideas of how i can gain a bit more power? hoping to get a downpipe now 2. need to get a boost controller, but not sure what one to buy? is it worth getting one of that ones that goes with the pfc?:3Confused

It\'s down to the bosot I guess, as Blitzboy says - I\'d surmise that 95 doesn\'t give you the knock resistance you need to uup the boost much - stock boost = limiting the power a fair bit unfortunately :(

Boost controller wise, Ive gone with a Profec B Spec II - had an AVCR before and I\'m too stupid to use it properly.

massive front mount cooler would help, driving home from down south tonight running 95ron(440mile trip so saving some money) and i was running 17psi of boost with no knock, i wouldnt suggest you ruin this boost yourself as your not mapping it, but id imagine you might be able to get a couple of psi over stock

Whats the best boost controller to go for? as i think im going to need 1! I could still hammer stock scoobys and evos but i want to make sure lol:rollin
does getting a boost controller and turning the boost up a bit make a big difference?

your power fc commander has boost control built into it so you can adjust the boost on that, ive found to pretty good actually and consistant so theres no need to buy one unless your going for a single.

Just "turning up the boost" has got to be one of the rotaries biggest killers imo. To get your boost level raised it really needs a tuner to change the map for you.

Its worth you having a check on the boost settings on the commander to see if Pip has put a second set of values in for your boost. My pfc has 0.8bar setting and 0.9bar setting. Stock boost is 0.68bar

Im getting the rex back home tonight so i will see what the settings are then. Not seen her for 2 and a half month now  lol.

how do you do this?

Settings menu.

I made 293 when I got mapped by Pip last year, similar mods to you: I was running out of injector (when Pip says running out though he means mid to high 80\'s - other tuners will cheerfully run your injectors right up into the mid 90\'s and get you a bit more power).

settings menu, and then what? if its easy i will give it a go but just dont want to do any damage.

do i not need the boost conrtol kit to adjust boost?

The power FC does have a slight controle of boost, but not very acurate by all acounts..... basicaly it adjusts the voltage to the boost controle solonoid to allow more boost pressure before opening the waste gate, but this is minimul adjustment.... think about 0.8 is as far as you can go & it\'s prone to boost creep. anything above 0,8 bar they recomend an aftermarket boost controler which allows you to a: controle the boost pressure & b: how quick the actuator on the waste gate reacts.

Its the small wastegate on stock twins that causes creep (boost just building and building)- the wastegate can\'t flow enough to reduce the boost.  The slow-ish response of the solenoid leads to spike (rapid increase in boost but then drops back to the intended level).  You can reduce creep to an extent by porting the wastegate - to deal with spike you need better (faster) boost control.

hmmm strange, any reason why im not having these issues, my wastegates arnt ported and ive had no problems controlling boost up to 18psi on the power fc, i dont get any spikes, dipped to around 15psi couple hundred rpm before the second turbo comes on but thats about it

Post by: jackaleks on September 01, 2010, 04:09:42 PM
i don\'t really think many people run their twins past 10-12 psi, let alone nearish 20, so maybe that\'s why? i.e. you\'re pretty much pushing them right to their limit of efficiency.

creep for me is when it starts building towards 14psi, that\'s when i engage my organic boost controller :)

The more boost you run, the less problems you\'ll have with creep. The more boost you want, the more gas you have to put through the exhaust side of the turbo pack, so the less it has to vent through the wg, so the less creep you get.

Removal of restrictions in intake and exhaust promote creep. You could hypothetically run a turbo with no wg at all if you were running it at it\'s limit.

I hope you have an epic intercooler!

a down pipe is on the way but im worried it might make it overboost again just like it did when i removed the cat, so had to get pip to remap it and fit a pfc. I just wonder with the current map it has will be enough to stop boost creep? if i fit it and it does get boost creep then could i just put the stock d-pipe back on and it will be ok? or is it to risky? hmmm what should i do?:3Confused:3Confused

What chipped ECU do you have on it at the mo then? The wastegates on the turbos would need porting to stop boost creap, its not something you can map out. Might be an idea to look at going single.

i would love to go single but not sure i could handle that work and stress right now lol, how hard is it to convert to single? is it allot of hard work?
