Title: Problem with my baby
Post by: Laursdahl on May 26, 2010, 10:00:02 PM
Hello..

I\'ve got this issue with my RX

It starts as it should.. Idle fine.. But when i go WOT (Wide open throttle) it cuts the ignition or something and just goes BANG like i have Launch controle..

I i got Half open throttle then i\'ve got no problems.. Please look at the videos to see the problem..

Thank you.

It has gone onto default.
Take negative terminal off battery, press brake pedal for 20 seconds, reconnect battery and see if it is fine after. That resets the ecu.
It may come back after a short while,if so then may the Oil metering pump needs changing. It is the usual cause.
Default is to protect the engine.
Regards
Carl

Today\'s news..

Worked on the car the hole day..

It\'s a Boost issue..

When the car is cold = 55 degrees It revs fine and makes Boost..

When it get 80 degrees it makes that sh!t !!!

What on earth is the problem??

You shouldn\'t be making boost when its cold! What mods does the car have? might be a fuel cut if its overboosting etc

Hey.. Yea i should warm her properly up.. But i dont rev it over 4k and it only makes 0.5 standing still.. I never drive when its under 80 degrees.

Mods are

Panspeed Ecu
Big intercooler
Blitz Hardpipes
5-zigen proracer exhaust

What could make it overboost?

What boost does the car get to? does it spike before settling? Is the exhaust system a full system? What upgraded fuel pump are you running?

The car only like get a little boost.. As said the engine was not fully warm and i dont wanna push it.. It gets to 0.5 bar.. Nothing stedy.. I just rev it up at let go of the throttle really fast..

On the road i doesnt even get boost.. As soon as the turbo begin to spool i makes banging sounds at seemes like the ignition is off..

Yes it\'s a Full system.. The car use to go with 1.0 bar and making 310.5 hp
Dont know what fuel pump it has.. all the mods where already made when i bought it 2 years ago...

You ignored haywards post and he was correct your car is in limp mode,, you need to pull the ECU code to find the electrical fault (you will only be able to drive the car with light throttle anything more causes bucking and back firing and its impossible to make hardly any boost).

This is the way i do it..
find diagnostic port under bonnet (near battery and flip lid you will find label for connectors in lid).
Now hook up an analogue testing meter the negative wire goes to the FEN terminal and the positive goes to the possitive terminal on the battery. Now place a small jumper wire to TEN and GND (in same diagnostic box).

Put key in ignition switch to on but dont start engine,,, the testing meter will flash out codes.. A long swing is 10,,, small swings are 1. (example 2 long swings 3 short is 23).
check this link for code chart..

http://www.rx7city.com/ecucodes.htm

This is instructions for american rx7 , they have a light on the dashboard so they dont need testing meter they only have to bridge TEN and GND.
