Hello,
I have a problem with the rex. The problem is that when I turn the key to turn the car off it keeps running. I can even take the key out but still it keeps purring away.... This does only seem to happen when the car has been running for less than one minute (which I never do cold, and I rarely do when it\'s warm). But even so surely this shouldn\'t happen. I don\'t have a turbo timer and it doesn\'t do this when the car has been running for a while, just if I try to turn it off if I have just turned it on. Any advice?
Can\'t help with the problem Bud but if its any concelation I have a mate who had a car that did the same. He could drive along and take the key out and keep driving.

Don\'t run it for less than a minute... :Thumbs-up
maybe a previous owner made their own system to stop people flooding it.
have you tried turning it off with the hand brake off? a mate some built in turbo timer on his mr2, if you don\'t engage the handbrake the timer wont do anything
I have no idea if this will help, but run on is usually caused by the timing being wrong on a piston engine - not sure if it would be the same on a rotary?
Must be an electrical fault somehwere.
Regards
Carl

I\'d be careful with the steering lock!
I\'d start by pulling the ignition barrel and continuity testing that :)

Have you got a clifford alarm with autostart...could be a default on that as with that you press a button on fob and remove key and car stays running for 3 minutes..could be a sticking relay or something
hehe I think I\'ll just try to avoid running it for less than a minute lol. I do have a Clifford alarm but like I said it never does it when the car has been running for less than a minute. I had the accelerated warm up unit removed and the fuel pump hard-wired to the battery with a relay stuck in between when I had the car rebuilt, would this have anything to do with it?
do you have a turbo timer on it?

Nope no turbo timer
are you suuuuuuuuuure??? either that or the car has become self-aware, and has started to do it\'s own turbo timing? Ooo, could it be that due to the age of the car, it\'s started to lose time, so it does turn off, only a minute after it should? Reset the time, and see if that helps?
Im pretty sure that it doesn\'t have a turbo timer. It turns off straight away if it has been running for longer than a minute so surely if I had a turbo timer it would do it every time I turn the car off??? What do you mean about setting the time? I don\'t quite understand what you mean (novice lol) I know it\'s silly because it\'s only when I run the car for less than a minute which I don\'t do often but still I would like to know why it is doing it lol...
