Title: Hesitation at 3700rpm...
Post by: Brett on May 19, 2004, 10:28:28 AM
I\'m getting some hesitation when accelerating, normally only does it when the engine has been running less than 15mins.  Once all is warmed up there is no problem.  I replaced the injectors about 18months ago, but they were just recons not new ones.

I\'m running an \'88 Egi, ported intake, induction kit with cold feed, ported exhaust with cones removed from housings, straight through exhaust system, uprated oiling system.

Any ideas?  I\'m fairly convinced its gotta be down to the secondary injectors.

Oh, I rebuilt the engine 13k ago and I know its sound.

So if anyone can shed some light....

Cheers, Brett

Might just be a case of warming engine oil up before it runs sweetly??

Normally i dont go over 3000rpm until engine oils above 50oC, do you have a gauge for engine oil??

Don\'t know, but you are probably best not to take it above those revs for the first 15mins anyway....and rebuild 2 will be ages away!! :)

I always let mine warm up fully before increasing the revs....

I dont normally rev it above 2500rpm when its cold anyway, I only found out because some psychopath in a BWM tried to kill me as I was pulling out of my drive the other week!

The EGi doesnt have an OIL TEMP gauge, only Oil pressure.  Do you think its worth installing one then?

 Thanks for your instights.

Can anyone shed any light on the secondary injector issue?

Have a look at improving the earthing wires in the entire engine bay with thicker core cabling. Put as many in as possible, but especially replace the one which sits on the centre housing, under the UIP.

Brett,

i think its wise to have the gauge for the oil temp as it allows you to see how much the cars warmed up, important so you dont put your foot down when the cars not warmed up.

Never had gauges in my previous cars but i find the ones i\'ve got very useful.

Dude, I think everyone has those ones in the middle, behind the steering wheel...  from memory, there\'s one for how fast you\'re going, one for amount of engine rotation, one for lubrication force, and one for vague indication of how hot the water is...??

Tell ya wot Bish, the power fc saved me engine as the car overheated when radiator was cracked, the normal temp indicator didn\'t move until the temp hit 120oC!!! so shows how accurate that is:(
Also you can never see the damn speedo when driving as your hands are in the way:rollin  but the power fc shows you that too.

The other gauges are for boost, exhaust temp, oil temp, power fc shows - air intake temp, speed, revs, water temp, knock, boost, batt volt, and few others cant remember wot!!!:rollin

For those who dont know the story, i ran out of water a while back so rang Si, who was the closest to me point, and asked him to bring me some water if poss.

So Si agrees to bring water, so i\'m there thinking he\'ll bring plenty of water for me, Si turn up 30mins later with 2 small bottles of coke with water in em:rollin :rollin :rollin

So i now carry 4 litres in the rear of the car.

So can anyone recommend a decent make of gauge and a housing to go with it?
