Title: Stupid Throttle cable question
Post by: Dragun on May 19, 2010, 07:34:10 PM
Hi guys

I have a 95 FD, and recently the accelerator pedal has become slack which is annoying because im so used to feeling the peddle and there being revs but now i have to push it further before i get any real response.

Im assuming this is because the throttle cable has become loose so i need to tighten it up, but this may sound stupid but which nut is it you do it from, i know from other cars theres an adjuster nut and a holding nut but seems theres only one on here, but i think that attatches the throttle lever to the throttle body :S

Anyway in short can anyone explain how to tighten this cable up please.

Many thanks.

Yup, there\'s an adjuster by the throttle body :)

Should be two - one either side of the bracket that holds the cable - just tighten it up there, and then lock the two nuts together with the rubber grommet inbetween :)

there should be some slack in the cable, don\'t overtighten it or you\'ll end up with a 3,000 rpm idle (from personal experience ).
