Hi guys i have a 1992 Rx7 Fd, Owned the car a little over a month now and it was going fine. i took it to Carl at Hayward and he worked his magic sorted out a Dud solenoid and mapped her up to approx 300bhp. since ive had it back it seems to cut out when i approach Traffic lights, junctions etc.. Anywhere the car has to stop with the clutch fully pressed down.
The revs seem to drop to around 200(if that) then sometimes push back up, just. But half the time she justs cuts cleans out and i have to start her again. I imagine this isnt good for the car and something must be wrong?
Anyone have any ideas on what it could be?
Im servicing it next week with full oil and filter change, air filter change etc.. but would be nice if anyone got anything else that i should replace to help the car run better?
Cheers Zach
clutch release bearing not releasing properly?
It could be to be honest, Jeff at Hayward said theres a problem with the clutch as it bites going into gears.
This an easy fix mate?
new clutch release bearing and replace worn out fork etc lol
check fluid level / cable.
im no pro / mechanic, i\'m sure someone on here knows more than me :)
Air leak from a split intake pipe or TPS not adjusted maybe? Or could it be something simple like an air bubble in the clutch line, meaning the clutch never fully dis-engages?
does it ut out if you cruse up to traffic lights out of gear? that will rule the clutch out.
it could just be the idle control valve or bleed air screw in the throttle body, happy to take a look if you want. dave
Cheers for comments lads,
Where abouts are u dave?
a friend told me he had a similar problem with his evo6 that was down the to dump valve, so I pulled off the small pipe that connects to the dump valve and its running perfect now but it obviously isnt running correctly so im prob doing more damage to the car by running it with the small pipe removed arent i?
Could it be down to the dump valve or is it a more serious problem? Soon as i connect the small pipe back ontop the BoV it cuts out again..
Any ideas?
Cheers zach

What sort of BOV do you have? its it an aftermarket one? I know thats what mine did as I fitted a Bailey DV24 instead of a DV26 and basically just caused unmetered air into the system, stalling the engine.
im in yate chap, got spare dump vlaves we can change and play with, feel free to call me or txt on 07709136667
It was a Baileys no idea which tho, but ive replaced it with a lad i know that used to own a scoobie, seems to be ok at the moment but is still dropping very low on revs. Will be in touch soon dave i only live down the road from you:cheers

Was the bit at the top of the BOV straight or bend over? Straight = DV26 which is what you need, bent = DV24 is the wrong sort (the sort I tried to fit)
If you mean the small nozel shape thing on the baileys then yeah it bent over and then the small pipe attached to that.
I have a differnt one on at the moment but no idea make/brand, Looking into getting a HKS ssqv you think this might help?
Dave where abouts u to in yate? im from winterbourne like 3 miles away so i can pop up sometime?
give me a call chap, 07709136667
Sorry to dig this up, but did you fix the fault? my car has the same fault after NO work had been carried out. Making it a pain to drive at the minute.
Cheers
Paul.
