Along story
When i was running in the rx7 it was stolen the person how stolen it hit the limiter.
The rex was running ok unto the dyno it had blow the frunt rotary housing.
The person got a way leats the rx7 was not smashed up

Surely the cost of a rebuild would be a lot more than the rise in your insurance premiums bud? I\'d have got the insurance to pay up, if some little turd stole my car and then caused the engine to blow up, i\'d be getting my insurane to pay for a new one.

i dont think that pip would like it to be running it on the byno at 580bhp or it will blow i am not looking it to be high power car 400ish is ok for me i will see when its time for the dyno Wesley Pearce had strip some parts off it befor he solt it to me but i dont no what

well a t88 on it, if it came away from a mapper with only 450bhp id be extremely upset, unless theres a good reason(not enough fuel)

On a t78 id expect 500bhp at 1.2bar and on a t88 id be wanting around 530-540bhp at the same boost

Some people arent power crazy though Lee, just because its been done doesnt mean everyone should want to do it.
 
If you want to chase figures go for it but I would rather have a car that car say kick out 450HP long term over a car that makes 500HP but at the limit

maybe true but i wouldnt really call 1-1.2bar the limit, id just say thats a nice amount of boost on pump fuel with which ever water injection setup he has on it.

Id imagine he would have 2 boost settings, 1bar then 1.2bar if hes chasing a supercars.

Its just if hes gonna run a big turbo he may aswell make use of it properly, if not sell it and bang a gt35 on there

I get what you are saying but I loved that my largish single made well over 400hp at 0.8 even with its mega quiet exhaust and plumbed in screamer if I have run a smaller turbo at that boost it wouldnt have made anywere near that power and I would have had to up the boost to make the power at the expense of a nice reliable driveable car

the bit im not sure about is the effect of boost.

Theres a difference between on the ragged edge and getting the best out of your setup.

For example, if i started running 20psi on my twins everyday....im pushing them very hard and will make alot of power, but eventually they will fail, but running them at 15psi means i wont have as much power but they will last longer.

Now thats easy looking at that.....but thats a turbo and not an engine, 2 different things.

If an engine is mapped correctly, perfect AFR figures and just the right amount of ignition timing i cant honestly see why the engine should break.

Engines never break for no reason, there is always a reason, normally you push the forces beyond the material specification of the components at that time(something may be in tollerance to start with but age degrades that)

That also emcompasses mapping and failure due to contamination.

If i fitted say a gt42 turbo, ran it on e85(to cut out detonation limit) theres no reason why aslong as i stay within the confines of the material specification i couldnt run 2bar of boost everyday.


The only thing that may lower quicker is compression, but then again that comes down to going beyond the material specification.

Yes but what I dont get is your hunger for big power, if you want it great but there is very little point in 400HP in a road car let alone 500HP.
 
Not saying your wrong just saying that everone is aloud to have there our opinion.
 
I dont say to everyone you must run a 3 rotor N/A PP\'d even though having owned stock twins, big single before the 3 rotor is the nicest power delivery and easiest to drive fast even though it makes the most power and is more peaky

im not trying to force big power onto anyone, he could be happy having 350bhp for all i care, the thoughts i brought up were why not get the best from your setup.

If you go for a large turbo, it pushes your boost threshold higher, to offset this you get alot more power.....to me thats a fair compromise, the bit i dont get is not taking advantage of that and only having the downsides.

Maybe im looking at simply from a piston point of view, any other engine you would build it, spec the turbo for the power you want and then run it at that power, not run it less because your scared of it goign wrong........not much point in having a rotary engine then if you cant use its potential.

Im not talking about banging 2bar down its throat but running the avaliable power for pump gas and w/i

you can always run a slightly less boost on the ebc for damp or very twisty stuff then have the power for the straights

its had a haft over a dyno as needed more miles on not ran in yet

run at 356.bhp now enging cant go past 6500rpm unto the engine has 4000miles then back on the dyno
 
pip from WGT saild it will be running at 550bhp :P

should be interesting when you turn the boost up properly then, ill be impressed if pip gets it up to 550bhp as his dyno figures always seem lower than everyone elses, but that might how rich he runs them.

Well
the fans will not work i had new relays and harness but no go WGT thinks its the water sensor Pip going to post one to me.
just hav to drive with the heaters on
in the summer well that going to fun lol

Just question but did you get those horns from Halfrauds? i bought one the other day and im going to fit it next week on leave. Was it easy enough to do as i know its not a oem unit, i cant see it being a problem just curious. Your Rex is looking very nice as well

the horns are off ebay there are the Ring automotive electromagnetic car horn.
yes there are easy to fit just make shoer there is a anough room to fit your bumper on as there can hit off it

I had the same concerns, so I opted for the Tein Monoflex as it has the facility to raise and lower ride height without affecting the spring/damping.
 
In my opinion it was worth the extra cost.

i think you need some spacers on the fronts to make the wheel and arch sit better together, as it looks like your wheels arent wide enough now.
 
wont the angle at which the tyre is now scrub off the inside edge more??

its got 15mm spacers at the front if the wheels go pass the wheel arch it an M.O.T field in the UK :(

When people \'Stance\' cars, the use wide wheels, spacers so the have \'poke\' don\'t forget a bit of arch rolling. Then they camber it in so it sits just inside the arch making it legal. You\'ve got masses of room there.

Doesnt matter if the wheel goes past the wheel arch as long as the tread of the tyre is inside the wheel arch.
By the looks of that last pic you could do with either wider wheels or about another 50mm spacer:eek:

i do think he has wider front wings than standard so spacers definatley needed, also does\'nt the use of spacers aid in increased lock for drifting?

need some help.
 
On Sunday I when to Ten of the Best (TOTB) it was a awesome day the sun was out I when down in the rx7 on the way there and back it was raining heavy. The rx7 run perfect there and back even runs perfect now.
 
I have a P1 alloy oil breather catch tank 2 litre AT11 with filter fitted on top I just emptied the tank and found I have water in it with the oil floating on top?
 
Would it be the filter sucking the water up?

Unless you\'re losing coolant then I\'d expect that it\'s going to be a bit of water getting into the intake.  Not enough to do any damage but it\'ll collect in your breather, if you empty the can and find that it\'s dry after a drive on a dry day then that would confirm it.

Good job on the interior strip and paint.  My only comment would be put the head liner back, otherwise come winter / colder weather the condensation from the roof will drip all over than nice interior.
