Title: What do these plugs connect to?
Post by: johnf on May 08, 2010, 06:43:54 PM
Having sourced a replacement engine I thought I\'d better start tidying up the interior of T11 cab.

Found two plugs behind the passenger seat in what would be the footwell on a coupe.

They look important but there\'s nothing to plug them connect them to, any ideas?

Thanks

John

With those spots etc on the wires they look like OEM, does your car have ABS? My coupe has ABS and there is a large ABS ECU next to the engine ECU in the passenger footwell, might be for that maybe?

ABS................

Doesn\'t even have an engine.

How can I tell it if has, or should have ABS

It might be something Cab specific like the headrest speakers or something though, I know that Mazda just had OEM looms and if something wasn\'t fitted to the car they didn\'t plug that part of the loom into anything maybe?

Now that sounds [pun] like an educated guess.

As Mitch said i think there just generic looms so not all connectors are needed for different variations of fc

The only other think I can think of by looking in the manual is it is for the cruise control CPU, I am guessing yours has cruise control still?

the coup has one similar to the smaller plug under the rear seats. think is for the lights for rear bins (not sure if cabs have rear bins?

not much help but good to hear you have an engine sorted :)

Yeah I would guess at it being a Cab thing. I had the carpet out of my coupe last year and didn\'t see them connectors. Although the FC do see to have random plugs and wires going places that no one knows what they are are. Im gonna guess at head rest speakers for yours.

Do you have any stepper motors on the top of the shocks? Some FCs had adjustable suspension that was electronically controlled, which this wiring may be for.

John

There is an ABS pump in the engine bay, passenger side next to the firewall, its job it to intermittently fail and causing loss of skin on your hands and wrists when trying to change plugs or fix a leaking coolent hose on the block :2Rolleyes

Looking at your engine bay picture in your other thread John you don\'t have ABS. The pump would be in the top right corner of the picture.

As sidewaysted said - NOTHING!

Never fear chap, just leave them/strip the wires back and remove them! That\'s my plan at some point, to just remove the ridiculous amount of extra wiring in the car!

i dont know if its any help.. but i can re-assure you that I have completely stripped every wire from my passengerside loom and shes still fine. :)

I checked al the wires and none of them are key to running.

I have 6 wires on my driverside loom in the car... none on the passenger side. driverside has fuel pump, rear lights and central locking (although thas coming out now too. :) )

The only wires that are used on passenger side are for the center console. I recently had to wire up the series 5 engine with a cab body loom that was in a 88 n/a shell. I thought the wiring was the same but I was wrong. Anyways them wires didn connect up to anything.

Those were only fitted on the GTU and GTX American models - the connector for the \'ECU\' for those is in the rear of the car - I have that part of the loom fitted but unused - where the spare wheel sits - to the right of it.

John - when you say footwell - do you mean in the floor area behind the passenger seat - if so, Mitch\'s guess for the AAS, or suspension thingy may well be right - someones just dragged the connector from it\'s usual place in the spare wheel recess
