Title: clutch pedal problem
Post by: gaz7470 on May 07, 2010, 10:09:53 PM
after some advice on my clutch problem.right today i blead the slave cylinder as clutch was not fully returning off the floor and difficult engaging gears.after bleeding i still have the same problem with clutch not fully returning although gears are now selectable after pulling pedal up after each gear change.
i know the clutch is engaging and disengaging as started the car put in gear released clutch and engine stalled.
what i noticed is the clutch pedal returns enough to disengage but noticed there was a clutch pedal release spring at the top of the pedal which i presume pulls the clutch pedal back the rest off the way.i have now accidentley pulled the spring out .does anyone know 1.am i correct in thinking that this spring returns the clutch pedal fully up and 2.is there a knack to putting it back as spent 2 hours trying to do it but springs out when i try to alighn it into the securing holes

any help would be gratefully recieved.....

Not fully returning means your cylinder seals are probably knackered.  Most likely your slave, but worth rebuilding both.  Its a one hour job, very cheap if you just buy the rebuild kits rather than new cylinders.  Worth replacing the clutch hose with a braided one whilst you are at it.

Can\'t help with the spring I\'m afraid, never undone mine!
