OK I bought my rx-7 knowing that the center speaker and both the rear speakers weren\'t working, and now ive finally got some time to sort them out.
Ive got the rx7 electrical manual and has very good troubleshooting methods so pretty straight forward.
1st off i was to sort out the centre speaker, and says to check the amplifier under the centre console. Im 99% sure that where im looking is correct, and this is whats under there....

No amplifier? Not even any sign of any loose wiring/connections for it ?!
Am i looking in the right place? If so what next?!:3Confused
Isn\'t the centre console where your cd player is?
Its behind and to the side of the radio. Would not bother with the centre speaker though, Just get a good set for the rear.
your centre speaker is prob dead because its fallen apart, they are made of paper and just disintegrate....
Take it the cd player comes out then to get to it?
Ive heard the centre speaker is meant to be pretty crap but would rather get it working :P
Are the rears poor quality aswell? Made of paper?

yep, cd player out, Rears are poor aswell. If you can find a good quality one for the centre go for it. Keith
I have a set of rear speakers, think they are pioneer units that are already fitted into the brackets for the rear if your interested £20+ p&P ???
Ok i took out the trim around the rear speakers and was shocked to find that there were NO rear speakers even there! No brackets either! The plug is there though. Wonder why someone did that?
As for the centre speaker it looks like brand new! Still not working though :( Having a real hard time tracing wires and its impossible to spot the amplifier!
rx7boy - if they are in good nick ill take them off ya no problem! :D
Yeah, they are in perfect conditon, if you drop me an email
dale[dot]pluthero[at]gmail[dot]com
then I can send some photos over to you, they were only taken out of the car due to the face that its now only for track use.
thanks
email sent mate :Thumbsup!
I unplugged the centre speaker and hooked it up to other power and its working fine!
Ive just thought of something though - my stereo isnt the standard one, so ive had to buy a plug converter thingy from halfrauds so the mazda connectors can hook up to my kenwood. Could the reason the centre speaker its not working be because there is a missing wire or something on the new connecters?
mate your fighting a lost cause, the centre speakers are rubbish, you really are better off not worrying about it and putting some gauges there instead lol.
