Im wondering if im missing something here.
There seems to be a big thing about rotarys chucking out loads of fumes come MOT time and people struggling to get them to pass.
Hear loads of storys all over.
my car is a 1994, last year with stock engine and CAT i got co@0.01% and 33ppm HC
So after removing my CAT last week today was my MOT.
Turns up, sticks a pipe up its bum and comes out with 7% CO and 3500ppm HC
now thats a failing straight away, so i just sat there, went to PIM voltage, down to 1000rpm and turned it from 100% down to 66%
CO came down to 0.9% and HC came down to 985-1000ppm so its a pass.
then finished the MOT, passed it, turned the fueling back up and drove home.
Seemed really simple to me and was a 5second adjustment, is it just because noone knows about changing the fueling for MOT that causes all these problems or am i missing something?
Same problem me and my son have, No air pumps or cat. Readings in the 7s. We use fuel cleaner and drop the pim volts to pass.keith
it was really easy to do, infact i turned it down alot lower than really required, as your allowed up to 3.5% CO and 1200ppm HC.
i like PIM volts for RPM and boost...its like tuning for dummies haha
What does the PIM Voltage actualy controll on the PFC? is that to do with the Map sensor? Just trying to understand whats going on with the engine when you do that. Im going to need to do somthing similar with an ECU but mine is not a PFC :P
when you go into the PIM voltage and a power fc it gives you 2 options, you can adjust the map by % on either rpm or the volts recieved from the map sensor.
i suppose if you adjust the low pim volts down as a % it would do the same thing as your volts are low when your in vacuum idling, you need to stick a sensor up its bum and try it, i wouldnt suggest driving it after though as it will be to lean

Lmao, I had to phone Dave hg the first time for a talk through.
Answered my own question :) yes it\'s pressure sensor, crude but effective :Giggle

Might sound a bit dumb, but can i do this on an unmapped engine barely run-in?
yep, im still running on a basemap with a big ported engine, you will need to turn the % down to around 66%, maybe more or less depending on what port your engine is, pretty easy, if you want help im more than happy to talk you through it
