Title: ABS Sensor Front Removal
Post by: marcusd666 on April 28, 2010, 02:23:31 PM
Hi Guys, I am in the process of changing over my old suspension after a coil spring broke 1 week after the MOT.

The thing is I have done the back with very little trouble (A part from one nut rounding off :eek)

The front on the other hand is where I am stuck I have got all the nuts loose with out any trouble but how comes to removing the ABS Sensors. How do you remove them I have removed the 12mm Bolt holding it to the hub But thing will not move I don\'t want to hammer it to much in case I damage the sensor.

Can the top wishbone be pull out enough with the sensor in place to remove the strut ????

Cheers Guys

Marcus

You can unplug it just inside the inner wind and feed it through :)

It will basically never come out of the hub  They\'re un-removeable (woop, new word!)
Well, they\'re not supposed to be, but they wedge themselves and there\'s hardly ever a way of removing them without destroying them :(

Top tip SiH just pushed the cable through about 2 inches and lowered the arm loads of room for removing the sturt :)

I got all the sensors out the hubs without breaking them but you need to be patient. I had the hubs off the car and once everyone was unbolted I sprayed them with halfords \'freeing\' oil. Gently gripped them with a pair of large hand grips and gently twisted them left and right. By going slow and keeping them oiled eventually you will crack the corrosion holding them together and you can steadily twist and pull them out more keenly. Eventually a gently wack with a big screwdriver pops them out.
