Gutted, can\'t believe it. I\'m picking up my new first gen series 3 on Friday and am not too sure what the condition all of the interior is like. Don\'t suppose I could be cheeky and ask if you could post some pics of whats left.

Many thanks Paul

Are the series 2 and series 3 interiors identical? Can they be swapped between each other without problem?

Hi Paul and welcome.....I chase everyone all over the place for first gen information \'cos I keep an unofficial register of all known ones on the road and also off-road on SORN or Breaking. People don\'t seem to get too fed up with me usually but there\'s always a 1st time!

I think I\'m right in saying I need to make a move on my listing for your car  from Lincolnshire to Kent, yes?

If you get into the 1st Gen section which you seem to have found and pick up the thread about \'How many 1st gens still running\', you\'ll find your new car noted in there in a few places....it\'s on page 43 and elsewhere.

I have an Excel spreadsheet which I can email if you want....it shows the general location of all the 1 gens that the lads in the 1st Generation section know about. Nothing confidential is released though.
email me on dgnock at bt openworld dot com if interested.

I would have thought so... Maybe someone knows more. I\'ll make for an interesting colour scheme if you did it.
I know people have swopped complete interiors between S3\'s in the past but you have to clear out the whole lot, dash, trim, everywhere to make a job of it. It seems like a lot of work (unless of course you are completely stripping one right down anyway).

Then of course you\'d need two cars....?????? Daddy David might be on to something here.....

only taken a bit of rear interior out but it\'s SORN now David, the rust where the top hinge of drivers door goes into main support really sealed it\'s fate.
will be keeping the motor and other assorted bits and grit blasting and POR15 them when i get chance to strip her down. finally got shed finished now just need to move things into shed and the two lockups at end of close. then i\'ll be able to move her inside to start bringing her down to a rolling shell. will let everyone know whats up for grabs when they are off the car

cheers

Pretty sure that\'s the one mate, why do you have some history on it?
Think the motor has been extended ported as it\'s got considerable more pull than the series2

I got my aerial from Maplins, fitted straight in, £24.99 - don\'t know if that helps - oh, and you can use the top secion from the old one on it, so it looks the same when down ;)

did it wire to the factory loom ( controlled by the centre console switch) or does it activate off the stereo?
Title: interior trim series 3
Post by: Marcrs on May 21, 2010, 02:19:09 PM
ah, well, it\'s wired to the permanent live from the light in the boot, and the switched live from a multi plug - that takes a feed from the switch in the centre console (next to the rear wash/wipe one)
The wiring was a bit of a mess, and the old one had been disconnected...
The multiplug was a bit baffling, as the permanent live switches off when the switch is on, transferring the power to the other lead??? That\'s no good for the maplins one, as it needs a constant 12v supply as well as a switched one.

Sorry, I guess a simple No would have done there, but it depends on whether my wiring was knackered :)

Hi, I wondered if you could possibly help with a few questions I\'ve got regarding my trim. I\'ve just picked up my 1st gen series 3 which has the burgandy interior but I noticed that the handbrake grip is brown in colour while the remaining plastic cover is red, the gear knob is brown in colour as are 3 vinyl pieces just positioned above the door cards but below the windows, (the drivers one is red in colour but passenger and both rears are brown?). Wondered if you have a red gearstick gator as mine has split and also an outside rubber door sill which sits along the nearside door at the bottom of the window as mine is missing leaving a large hole.

Many thanks Paul

I think it is more of a case of the red fading/sun damage rether than being brown trim bits if mick hasnt got a good door trim in red i do

Well done, it looks a really nice car, love \'em in white!
A few of us tried to do him a deal for the glass roof but, understandably, he wanted to keep it with the car!
I think Michael is right about the trim colour being due to fading.
You should be able to get the bits you need on here eventually.

Cheers,
Ian
