Title: elford turbo
Post by: kiwi-mick on April 22, 2010, 09:42:36 PM
hi all anyone know someone who owns an elford turbo by chance?
have a chance to buy one minus engine and turbo have got a 12a turbo setup in aus but it\'s for the old cosmo setup an impact turbo and need injectors and management which it would be nice to avoid.
if i buy this elford would want it back to close to original spec as possible.

Keith did you get the setup off john by chance?
do you know if they used a standard 12a or did they put the low compression rotors in the motor when using this system?

Yes an su, ive got all the bits at work I will take some pics tomorrow and post them when I get home. The original set up had a small box of tricks that mounted under the dash to retard the timing I think but this can be sorted with a couple of pressure switches on the manifold.
Keith...

Normal 12a engine, I got mine off Dom who I got the car off.

old Chinese proverb say \' man with 2 Porsches should not fit Elford Turbo system to Mazda but should sell to nearest RX7 enthusiast\'

something like that anyway, I can\'t remember the exact wording!

Don\'t ignore the proverb or you may be struck down with the curse of the sportomatic gearbox!

Looks like you have most items apart from the modified sump,, you can do the mods to a normal one by fitting a breather into it, if not you will draw all the oil through the engine.. electic box only dims the interior light, provides a rev limiter/ over boost limiter.. the 0.5 pressure switch just provides power for a one way valve to stop vac to the distributor the 8.5 psi was for the over boost for the black box so not needed. look at my thread and get in touch if you need any info..
