Fitting engine and gearbox at the same time whos done it? any problems?
I actually find this easier than just fitting an engine or Box itself..
Just make sure the Car is jacked up fairly high for enough clearance, and also for scooting up and down under the car easily, especially if doing it on your own......
Yeah ill be on my own, do you need to take all the power plant frame bolts out both sides, or is the gearbox side enough. only done block alone until now
Everything was removed from under the Car, as it made it rather easy to manouver without getting caught on anything as I\'ve also done them on my own, so you need as much clearance as possible all round as you will be stretched jiggling it with one hand while opperating the hoist with the other, then diving under the car constantly to make sure it\'s not fouling under there... :2Rolleyes
The key is getting the correct \'angle\' going in(especially on your own), hence jacking as high as possible.
Once you get the block in place in their mount positions then you\'re laughing as just let the hoist take the strain/balance while you scoot under and get the drive shaft and Power plant frame in place....... \'done\'
Good luck..
that seems makes so much more sense than messing with the clutch, 4 22mm bolts on the gearbox and the hydraulic plus remove the gear stick seems much easier, ill give this a go
The whole clutch thing is overrate - you don\'t need to unbolt the clutch assembly as people say - you just need to release the bearing using the collar.
Remove PPF, cat, and probably easier to remove the prop if you are doing it on your own. You don\'t need to, but it makes it a LOT easier.
If you can, seek help - it\'s not really a barrel of laughs on your own. Even if it\'s jsut your mum/sister/nan to operate the crane, it simplifies matters immensely.
if you decide to fit the engine on itself it\'s good not bolt the engine mounts to the arms. Just lay them in the subframe loosly.
If you bolt them on, you need to lift the engine far too much to have good access to the gearbox.

i didnt like doing it that way because you cant get good torque on the engine mount bolts.
it is horrible working on your own
Holy smoke im trying this today and it isnt nice. I cant seem to get the right angle so the prop shaf slides into the GB. would it be wise to undo the ppf and prop from the back. argghhh i hate cars. im taking the engine mounts totally off the car. its not soo easy this way
props coming off now
All done, that bic mac made all the difference.

Glad you sorted it... well done, a Big Mac is legendary for that sort of stuff
I didnt need to undo the PPF or the drive shaft it went on after a break. slid in nice n smooth. i just need a map sensor now urgently im at silverstone on friday
I might have a standard map sensor hanging around somewhere. Email me if you want me to look for it, as I don\'t come on very often (Email address on profile)
