FD3S2 is older, and only the Commander specifically matched to the FD3S2 will work.  Both will work on all series I, II and III FD\'s (thats FD\'s up to 1995 that had an 8-bit ECU as stock).  If you have a later FD you need a different PFC (FD3S1/FD3S5 or FD3S3/FD3S6 IIRC)

FD3S4 is a later generation PFC, it doesn\'t do anything extra, but the Commanders for that later generation are interchangeable on other (newer) PFCs.

The newest Commanders that have just become available use OLEDS rather than LCD displays I think... something like that anyway.  All that does is increase readability, no new functions that I\'m aware of.

think the S2 has a slightly different Base map to the S4 and the S2 has removable Chips on the board and the S4 has soldered chips.. i think

Ah, this is a good point, the S4 base map (called the base mod map) is better!  But in terms of mapping and monitoring it makes no difference.

Basically if you can pick up a cheap S2 WITH a commander then go for your life, but if you pick it up without one then you\'ll probably struggle to find a Commander that\'ll work with it.

S4\'s are reasonably priced again now for import from Japan anyway...
