Title: Wooohoo, brakes all sorted and new wheels on.
Post by: MrHanky on April 20, 2010, 09:50:20 PM
Fitted the FD calipers (thanks Martin at Speedline for these) during the week and also did brake bleed for some 5.1.  Put Hawk fast road pads on all round and also changed front discs for some Brembos.  During this time I also got my Hankook RS2 tyres fitted to the 2nd hand Enkei\'s I bought, and then replaced the Advans whilst doing the brakes.

Just been to bed brakes in and first impressions are that all is well.  Discs were £71 delivered from the Brembo shop and they seem to be a bargain.  My brother fitted these to his R32 GTST before the trackday and they worked very well for him with some Endless pads.

Seeing as my car missed the Mallory track day 2 weekends ago due to knackered caliper, I may book in for the one this weekend.  If so, I will then see how the brakes and tyres stand up to some abuse.

Just happy that Daphne is on the road again now :)

Just make sure that the brakes are bedded in correctly! Can the brake system take DOT 5.1?

I ran 5.1 for my track day. Infact its still in now. I shall have to refresh it before the next one.

Will do Mitch.  I have done it the same way as my brother and the same way that we always do it.  5 x 30 - nearly stop, 5 x 50 - nearly stop and then 5 x 70 - nearly stop.  Then took nice slow drive back without using the brakes.  Does this sound ok to you?

Also forgot to say that the Racing Beat braided hoses are on as well.

Thanks

When I got my brake disks upgraded I was told about 200 miles will break them in correctly, plus only using the hand brake and not the foot brake when stopped at traffic etc
