hi all, as above any opinions which is the better set up, i take it at rest the series 3 would be better? but when moving series 1 and 2 more effecient due to cooler air moving over fins?
anybody ever tryed using both on a car and if it could be done would it actually be of any benifit to cool the oil temp lower than manufactur spec\'s??
cheers
mick
bit of a newbie answer, but I take it the S2 cooler is the one under the radiator...is it like a "normal" aftermarket oil cooler? In which case, I\'d say you could be right, and might be more efficient when moving, however the water is being cooled in the rad when moving, which in turn is cooling the oil...
I\'\'d see no harm in running both :)
In my experience, and for street use an S3 beehive cooler, with the engine in good condition, will take anything you can throw at it. That includes long traffic hold ups.
Over cooling might lead to acid products building up and could well affect efficiency - higher fuel consumption? Don\'t know but wouldn\'t do it.
only trouble with the beehives is that they always seem to leak...
Easy fix but one of those that you never get round to doing.
Yep, I think mine is leaking - is it an \'o\' ring seal in there? if so, does anyone know the dimensions of it?
i changed from a beehive to a gen 2 oil cooler, i didnt have any problems before but its a good upgrade, the oil cooler on the gen 2 is better then a lot of after market stuff you can get and cooling can be provided by my electric fan when needed

There\'s a couple of O rings under it I think but i don\'t know the size, I\'ve never changed any. That\'s why my engine is an oily mess underneath the cooler!!

There\'s a 4 page guide Marc, featuring owning and maintaining a 1st Gen. The main author was I think Tim White at RX Motors Blandford Forum.
Thing is, regarding the oil filter \'O\' rings Tim seems to know all about them and recommends rings made from \'Viton\' which don\'t go hard,
I\'ll email the guide to you tomorrow (Resolution possibly not good enough to post up), meanwhile suggest make contact with Tim about his seals.
Dave
Well go on then, we\'ll try uploading at 760 x 1000 pixels.......
Seems to be readable and Tim\'s phone No. is on there...
Is that OK Marc? can you print and read?
The \'O\' rings are on page 3, Maintenance Item 1
Fantastic, thank you very much :)
