Picked up my car from Geff at
RE:Worx last weekend after getting him to do a shed load of work: -
- Full service
- Fit RE-Amemiya AD9 bonnet
- Fit FEED door handles
- Fit DEFI oil and water gauges in centre speaker pod
- Fit DEFI boost gauge in steering column RE-Amemiya pod
- A load of other little things...
Anyway, big thumbs up for all the work he has done and putting up with me trying to project manage him :p
Also had my wheels laser aligned at STS in Bedford (01234 269800), thanks to AndyP for the heads up on those guys :)
Still need to fit the boost gauge as the pod didn\'t turned up in time and need to fit some bonnet pins (have ordered them); damn this bonnet is light!
So I finally gave it a good clean and took the much needed pictures, enjoy :)
Straight on bonnet shot.
Those nice vents :)
The catch trays can be easily removed.
Close up of a bank of vents.
FEED door handles, finally I can get into my car via the drivers side! Heaven!
DEFI oil and water gauges.
Looking super sweet:eek:
:D
nice effect on the dash. was looking to do something similar myself. wa sit expensive to do ?
cheers
nick
looking good there Chris :D
Can I ask how much ya full service was & what (if any) parts you had to get replaced?
I think you should get a tiny front reg plate do gonna have a lot of air being blocked by that thing. Only £8 ish inc p&p :-)
Jovic82 : it\'s a Knight Sports carbon look dash replacement, it came with the car on import so I have no idea on the price, apart form a ballpark guess of expensive!
Andyp : Don\'t have the paperwork on me so can\'t remember how much the service was, I had various belts, filters and lubricants replaced, plus the damn paper inlet manifold gasket which isn\'t a quick job (a full days work!).
Nothing serious though (thank the lord!)
Yep, I spent a while deciding on the number plate, in the end I plumped for the smallest font and spacing legally available, so I drew my own template from specs on the DVLA site and had it made up.
You think this one is big, the one that came on the car was about double the size and nearly blocked the entire central air dam! Rubbish!
Some kid hanging around STS mentioned your numberplate being tiny!
which one\'s the inlet manifold gasket? not the one attached to the trottle body is it? Did ya get a metal one put in?
hehe glad I chucked my reg plate. I just went for a motorbike one in the end, had been advised it is totally legal and a copper who was checking my car out didn\'t seem to care ;)
Best thing is it fits right on the bracket motormall have put in and hadly blocks any air too. Know what ya mean about the ones they put on, they are terrible. I called mine a "goofy tooth" hehe

Correct Andy - not the one attached to the trottle body :)
The gasket in question would be the lower inlet manifold gasket - the gasket between the lower half of the inlet manifold and the four (for the 13B-REW) intake ports on the side housings/plates/ irons/what ever you want to call them...
Absolutely gorgeous !
bums that sounds hard to get at. Think mine would have been replaced during the rebuild but wanted to check see if it was metal.. sounds like a horror to get to? ;(
quite fancy those door handels and ur mirrors. whare did ya get em

Read the first post
i ment the mirrors
Andyp : yep I had a metal one put in, I heard that Mazda started putting metal ones in at some point anyway, mines a \'96 and was paper though.
yonner : the mirrors came with the car on import, they are Ganador I believe.
Lurvely car Chris, nice one!
Depending on where you put them and how tight they are, the pins should help the front shutline (corners) and make everything perfect!
Iain
Yep, I was thinking of placing the pins between the headlights, to help get those corners down!
il giv u my bonnet pins ine xchange for ur mirors :P wee jsut took our full bonnet of whitch never realy fitted flush with the side pannels so we are thinking of sommat nicer but tbh i keep saying about all these mods we are doing and the thing still aint runing ::mad:
absolutely beautiful...so jealous! love the carbon effect, both inside and out. car is a great colour also. you did a great job of picking the car...how long were you waiting until you found the right example?
also, could you tell me where you found it and what you thought of the service etc? i\'m looking around currently at a lot of importers, and am v interested in first hand experiences! thanks!
http://www.neweraimports.com
They were excellent and I fully recommend them.
After I handed over my ideal spec / wish list I had to wait 4 weeks for them to find a suitable example which surpassed what I thought they could find :) It then took a further 4 1/2 months to get my hands on it because of the import process.
It didn\'t turn up in the spec you see here though, I\'ve added a lot onto it in the 9 months I\'ve had it :) Getting a car in excellent condition
with a good set of things done to it is very very rare as far as I could tell, so I opted for the good condition side of the bargain with a view to make it more special myself.

Took me a while, but I finally took a shot of the DEFI boost gauge and RE-Amemiya steering column pod, in case anyone wants to know what it looks like :)
I only took a picture because I was at a show taking pictures and it started raining, so I was sat in my car with a camera!
Awesome. Looks suitably impressive mate! Small wonder your car won best of show with attention to detail like that! CF looks lovely, though even for your FD i think 300mph is a little optimistic! :p
Thanks a lot for your info, everyone is full of praise for Miguel and Newera, and after looking at the DVD i can see why! I\'ve been looking at their site for ages now, and every FD they\'ve had in has been excellent.
Interesting that you chose the path of buying a car with a view to personalise it as it\'s something i\'m thinking about. As i\'ve wanted one for so long i\'d ideally like to get the EXACT one i\'m looking for, in terms of kit, spec etc etc. But realistically, the chances of finding it are next to nothing so i was thinking about buying something less unique (but ensuring therefore the quality was top-notch) and spending some on Ross\' services!
Fair to say you\'ve certainly succeeded in making an already special car even more so, surely there can\'t be much more on the wishlist? :)
Hehe, yeah I have a had comments about the 300 "mph" before.
Ooop, it wasn\'t best of show, it was best 3rd gen :)
When I first set out I knew that I would not get exactly what I wanted, so my plan was to get as near as possible then go from there. I did think that after my first round of additions I would be finished though!
I am eyeing up my third round of additions now and I haven\'t even seriously looked at the (insurance hitting wallet pounding) performance mods yet!
If you want power then you can invest in an already modded example which would be the best economically viable way of doing it, but I am happy with getting it built the way I want - I get to learn a massive amount along the way too :)
Best 3rd gen? Ah well from a certain perspective it\'s the same difference...the FD is without the best car ever to have come from japan, and as you had the best example of the best car that\'s a winner in my book! :cool But out of interest, what type of car won best car (if there was such an award)?
Well at least i\'m lucky in that performance mods aren\'t even a consideration for me! I\'m going to have a tough time of it insuring the beasty standard, plus 250bhp+ is MORE than enough considering it\'ll be my first taste of big power, turbos and RWD.
If finances are permitting, i agree totally, doing things your way and learning the how\'s and why\'s is all part of the fun. Like when you were little and built lego. Or something.
I saw you a JAE...nice car !
Mazdarotaryclub best car was awarded to a real nice red Knight Sports fettled RX-7, I think he was saying he has won it a couple of years running now! - didn\'t get any pictures of it - doh (I\'m an idiot), sure Clive did though.
(Perhaps it\'s like lego technics)
I\'ll have to head over to the Meets section and see if i can find it! Do you know who it belongs to? Don\'t remember seeing any pics of it...but if it was voted best car over and above FDs like yours, Gurj\'s etc it must be very special indeed!
Also, if you don\'t mind be being very rude, could i ask roughly what figure you gave Miguel as a budget? Or to put it another, slightly less invasive way, would between £12k and £15k be about right to get a vehicle of similar age, mileage and quality? I\'d quite like to get something almost finished and add a few personal touches, just not sure if i could afford it!
Just had a look back at your original post after just getting the car, amazing what a difference the bonnet makes!
Was it this one?
Sorry for the big image guys, First time posting pics you see.

lol
Yeah kept clicking back and it posted the response again.
What a dumbass.
Sorry guys. Thought it would be Scooby Si in there first though with a comment :D
Hmmm now that IS a nice FD. Looks like a serious amount of work has gone into the engine, like the headlights too. Is the rear wing a KS job too?
Still, i\'d have to say, aesthetically at least, that Chris\' car wins hands down. Just my opinion though! :)
