OK, just 8 weeks to go, so time to start some organising for this event.
As a tempter, there are some track action pics below showing some RX\'s at Cadwell in June last year :Thumbs-up
Further details and booking your trackday place can be found by clicking HERE (http://www.mazdaontrack.co.uk/cadwell-park---opl---wednesday-9th-june-282-p.asp)
Please note that this year our partners, Mazda on Track, have not been able to secure exclusive use of the track and so places might sell out well before the day, so please book early or you might be disappointed;)
Cost for track participants is £169, but full MRC members (not guests) can claim £20 back after the event. In addition, any Mazda on Track members can claim back £5 at the checkout. So, if you are entitled to all the discounts the day will cost £144.
EDIT; STOP PRESS, if you are not a MazdaonTrack member, but a FULL MRC member, MoT have kindly offered a £5 discount code that can be used at the checkout. PM me if you\'d like the discount code.
As with MRC\'s policy this is open to any Rotary powered vehicle and these trackdays are designed to be just as much social events as on-track events giving people the chance to come along and meet other members of our Rotary community and/or take a ride with another member. The biggest thing to remember about going on-track is that the car only goes as fast as you make it go, and even if you go at half the speed of other cars so long as your enjoying your day out then thats all that matters. We are hoping that you will support these trackdays, either driving or spectating, as we are trying to make it where there is a little something for every one and as the season goes on we hope to evolve these events into a format for the future. For instance if enough of you come along just to show your cars and we find lots of you are coming along just to do this, then we will think about a trophy to be picked by the attending people for the best rotary, all of which will make this more of an event as there will be more to see. Other trophys could be offered, for say the "most entertaining car of the day" or "hard luck" story of the day etc, ideas please.

Accommodation. Some of us will want to stay overnight before the event to get a fresh start. As last year I\'ll be staying at the Beaumont Hotel at nearby Louth, details HERE (http://thebeaumonthotel.co.uk/). Rooms are from £45, inc a hearty english breakfast. Nick and Tina run this family owned hotel and looked after us well last year. If you want to book a room at the Beaumont then either phone direct on 01507 605 005, or email tina@terracerestaurant.co.uk (please mention you are one of the "Rotary Group" when booking). For those on a budget, there are a few twin rooms available at £30/head (sharing), inc breakfast - a bargain. First come, first served, so be quick, as there are only a limited number of rooms. There is plenty of off-road secure parking there too!
From experience last year, I\'ll be staying TWO nights, so I don\'t have to rush back after the event. If you feel the same, book in for two nights too!
I\'ll get it booked after the 20th. Will book a single room again for the night before !
Just have to get the car working then :Giggle
Shaun
Hi Shaun - looking forward to seeing you at Cadwell again :)
Heads up; Circuitdays are also selling places for this event. TWELVE spaces have already been taken, plus TWO more via the Mazda on Track website. Get your skates on if you don\'t want to miss out on a day at this fabulous track in Lincolnshire.
Booked my place:Thumbs-up
BUMP for our Sunday Readers :D
Day booked on CC :D
Shaun
ill be there :))) moving funds will book on wednesday :))
edit; had money in my paypal so booked now :}}
Shaun & Tom; excellent :Thumbs-up. List updated.
If either of you guys is planning on staying o/night at the Beaumont, remember to quote "Rotary Group" when booking so we can keep track ;)
Booked already :D
Night before and driving home same day !
Shaun
Just booked on the Mazda website just anti roll bars to go and I\'m sorted.
Bring it on! :3gears-rh
Since we don\'t have the full track to ourselves how would my friend go about booking hisself in so he could meet up with hios R33 GTR.
^^^^Hi Lil-Steve, glad you can join us! Technically, your friend could book via the MoT website or the Circuitdays website (same price). However, I propose anyone who doesn\'t have a Mazda book via the Circuitdays (http://www.circuit-days.co.uk/event_info.asp?id=299) website to "preserve" the allocation MoT have for Mazda\'s, in case places get short.
Looking on the list there is an audi R8 running and a couple of Ferrari too !
Shaun

[Evil Voice] Ahhh fresh meat! [/Evil Voice]
(regardless of my first trackday in the FD)
Malcolm, just booked this one too :)
:Thumbs-up Well done, Crissy! List at the top of the thread updated ;)
Just booked for this track day and for Beaumont Hotel.
Many thanks for organising this Malcolm
I\'ll be coming either way but will hopefully be on track and stay over at the beaumont again, just depends on sorting the car.
^^^^ Neil, you\'ve had all year to fix that leak :D:cool
On a different note completely, I have a friend who is paralysed and I\'d really like to take him out on track as a passeneger, he loved the Lambo we had for our wedding that I took him out in for a "gentle drive" and I think he\'d really love a few laps in my FD chasing a Ferrari round. Do you think there would be any reason why this wouldn\'t be possible?
I have a 4 point to hoild him in place and buckets so he won\'t hurt himself in car.
Passengers cost about £10 to sign on during the day and £10 helmet hire if they don\'t have one ! Can\'t see there being an issue ! He just needs to sign on !
Shaun
Quote from: Casey;688971^^^^ Neil, you\'ve had all year to fix that leak :D:cool
Oi! lol, actually it depends on sorting a new car :mmmm
Shaun - they charging for passengers now? Not much I guess but still
They have always charged for passengers if they aren\'t signed on as drivers. Always signed on and paid a small fee when gone to trackdays !
Shaun
Just looked at the webpage and it may only be MSV that charge.
http://www.circuit-days.co.uk/freetuition.asp
Says near the bottom they don\'t charge for passengers !
Shaun
TBH passenger charges do seem to be very inconsistent! There were charges at Cadwell last year, but we did get a very good price on the driver charges. If there is a charge, the usual argument is that is pays towards the insurance costs of the day. If there is a charge, it\'s only ever been £10, so fairly nominal anyway.
Lil-Steve - I\'ll email Mazda on Track and see what they say.
Just Booked my place for the track day. Will probably book the hotel this year too as last year it was 4:30am untill 9:30pm round trip.
Thanks Malcolm
^^^:Thumbs-up well done Adrian, look forward to seeing you there!
EDIT; STOP PRESS, if you are not a MazdaonTrack member, but a FULL MRC member, MoT have kindly offered a £5 discount code that can be used at the checkout. PM me if you\'d like the discount code.
BUMP; as I only posted the above 45 mins ago and it\'s alreay dropped off the "New Post" listing
So can we claim it back?
Ade
aka
2nd gen scrooge!
Ade (aka Scrooge :Giggle) - I\'ve emailed MoT to see what can be done.
Good man! :)
just looked and its 375 miles and 7 hr drive, i wanna go just gotta wait a few weeks until i get time off confirmed and a few things on the car done-new gearbox, oil leak onto the turbo/exhaust and a blowing downpipe sorted may need to get the exhaust a bit quiter to:2Rolleyes
Just recieved a £5 refund. Cheers Casey. That might get me an extra couple of laps of fuel!
@Rob - I hope things work out and we see you there!
@Adrian :Thumbs-up, glad to hear Nick at MoT sorted out your discount quickly.
Yeah they are a good bunch of lads.
BUMP for the May B/H weekend.
Less than 6 weeks to go! Time to get booking if you don\'t want to miss our outing to this spectacular track in South Lincolnshire, often described as a mini-Nurburgring for it\'s variety of corners, straights, gradients and setting in some beautiful green countryside.
C\'mon join the 7 of us already committed to having a great day out.
First timer; not sure? Just PM me or post up here if you have an questions. If you own an rotary engined car and you\'ve not done a trackday, add it to your "must do" list now, then tick it off by signing up for this event You\'ll be amazed at how good the rotaries are on track.
Even if you just want to come along to watch, let us know. It\'s free, and you are welcome to some passenger rides if you want :)
Hi All,
I have had a mail in to say that MOT (Mazda on Track) are getting very booked up for this track day.
As we have no guaranteed spaces this means if you are waiting for the date to get nearer before booking you could end up being dissapointed unless you book real soon as they may end full with no more spaces for you :o,
^^^What Clive said AND....
Anyone else wanting to stay at the Beaumont had better get a move on. Currently the following rooms are left;
4 Doubles @ £60 or £50 SO
1 Exec at £80 or £65 SO
1 Exec as above but can actualy sleep 3 persons for £100 (so a good deal for 3 people)
To book, contact the hotel DIRECT by email or phone; quoting "Rotary Group".
tina@terracerestaurant.co.uk
01507 605 005
UPDATE; as of 4 May, with just over FIVE WEEKS to go, we now have 11 rotaries signed up for this trackday. Of the eleven we have;
1 RX-7 FC
2 RX-7 FD
8 RX-8 (including one of the newer "R3" models)
C\'mon you RX-7 (or other RX models!) owners, I\'d love to see more of you join us on what will be a great day out. Last year\'s outing was awesome at this really spectacular 2.2 mile circuit through rolling green countryside. None of your boring, flat, old concrete airfields - this circuit has is all, sweeping bends, tight bends, two great straights, all on very mixed gradients. You can even "take off" at one point, if you\'ve got the power!
Here\'s some youtube links to give you some idea of the circuit;

BUMP - thread dropped of the "new posts" list already, and only posted 10 minutes ago :Typing
Another free bump. It will fall off of your "new posts" view Malcolm once you\'ve viewed it, but will be there for others when they come back to the forum.
Seriously looking forward to driving Cadwell this year :D
Ian.
That\'s probably because you wrote it and therefore already checked it :-D it\'s still on everybody else\'s "new posts" list though...
But just in case here\'s another BUMP. Great to see our Rotary Track Team growing.
LOL Ian beat me to it!!
Two more booked for the track and the Beaumont hotel, added below.

Check this (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=689387&postcount=26), Casey had the magic discount code to get rid of the £5 delivery charge :)
Neil, if you email nick.dougill@mazdaontrack.co.uk and explain that you forgot to put the discount code into the box at the checkout, then he might be able to arrange to refund the £5 "postage" (= the discount).
If anyone else is a FULL MRC member and wants to book this trackday then please PM me to request the discount code (£5 off) and instructions on how to use it.
Hi Casey,
just checked the map and with my 8 mpg and the increased fuel
costs of late I think this one will be a tad too far, I may just have to wait
for Castle Combe and Brands Hatch to pop up...I will defo make those.

hope this helps

List of attendees on page one of this thread updated to reflect all the info I\'m currently aware of. Plse let me know of any inaccuracies!
Delighted also to report that "stever" (Steve), an admin on the RX8OC forum, will be joining us in his Titanium Grey RX-8 :wiggle
I think the grey\'s have it at the moment (me, CrissyUk, stever):Tongue1

A couple of people have PM\'s me to confirm they can no longer make it, but hope to be at one of the later trackdays :)
Bump!!
Sadly I missed what looked to be an excellent day at Japfest yesterday
Maybe those watching the track action might want to tag along to this Cadwell trackday in just over three weeks time? :mmmm
Good bump as our members shouldn\'t forget,
The MRC trackday season is designed to be more than just track days as we hope that even if you have no intention of going on track you will bring your cars along a make a show in the pits and support the guys and gals out on track,
While your there I\'m sure you can get a passenger ride if you want to, but at the end of the day/
"we are trying to make these special days social occasions for all those who love our Rotary cars, but can only achieve this with your support" , :Thumbsup!
BUMP - only just over two weeks left now!
All are welcome, whether to take your rotary on track, spectate, have some passenger rides or just hang out in the pits for a chat.
Let us know if you\'ll be coming along so we can make arrangements.
There\'s still a few places left for anyone wanting to go out on track :mmmm
So looking forward to this :D
Shaun
Yep been prepping the car all day again sorting out a few niggles. Found a water leak i\'d been looking for for some time. Changed the clutch slave master and slave cylinders cause the master was leaking. Just got to sort out an ABS problem and do an oil and filter change and its ready. Unless I get an uprated radiator in the mean time.
I\'ll hopefully bedded the brakes in by then. ABS has gone too ! Had a boost control issue that is now fixed, new rad and leak fixed :D Got the water injection reinstalled too ! The rest is still a surprise :Giggle
Shaun
Yep if I can\'t suss out my ABS problem then Im gonna bin it.
Now where is that "How to delete your ABS" thread!
Nick at Mazda on Track has told me that this event is now FULLY BOOKED.
The other trackday bokign site for this event, //www.circuit-days.co.uk website is also showing "SOLD OUT".
I\'m aware that several people were trying to get their cars and/or dates sorted out and couldn\'t book earlier. I regret it seems as though you will have to miss out on Cadwell in June :( Don\'t worry, there are at least three other trackdays I\'ll be promoting and, if the demand is there, I might put in a couple more dates :o this year.
OK, as I have it, the final list is as follows;

Thankyou for your support, the result of which, AFAIK, is that we have the largest single group attending this event. There will be a small number of MX-5\'s on track (some of which are race-prepped and seriously fast) as well as an interesting mix consisting of;
Ferrari (360CS)
Ferrari (F430)
Audi (R8)
Porsche (944)
Porsche (BOXSTER)
Nissan (R34 GTR)
Lotus (Exige) x2
Scoobys x2
several Caterhams, et al
As mentioned before, anyone is welcome to come along to spectate, socialise, take pictures and even blag some passenger rides. There is no cost involved*, apart form renting a helmet, if you don\'t have one.
If you are thinking of coming along, let me know, so that we can expect you
*There just might be a small fee for the day to go out as a passenger. If levied, it\'s only likely to be £10 or so.

Weather report is currently \'light rain\' for this.
http://uk.weather.com/weather/10day-Louth-UKXX1288
Oh crap....
I\'ve had to send my drivers licence (photocard and paper) off for it to be renewed and it\'s going to take a fortnight for the wonderous people at the DVLA to do anything about it. Sensibly I took a copy of my photocard is that going to be enough?
:2Mad I can feel the stress levels rising again!
Steve
Better check with nick.dougill@mazdaontrack.co.uk to see if this will be a problem. I hope it won\'t be!
Neil - weather forecast, rats, I\'m hoping that is so long range that it will be wrong. My tyres are down to about 3mm all round. I have a new set to put on, but was hoping to finish off this set at Cadwell and change afterwards. I\'d be happy with them in the dry, but not too keen if it\'s wet! Might have to get the tyres changed just before the trip up if it is going to be wet
I wouldn\'t worry too much casey as light rain doesn\'t sound like any standing water will be about. Unless the forecast gets worse I\'ll be coming on semi-slick trackday tyres. Problem will probably be the changing conditions though.
^^^ I\'m optimistic the weather forecast will improve the nearer we get to the day!
OK, thought I\'d throw together a "Briefing Pack" which might come in handy for some of us. Apologies for the trackday vets if it\'s a bit simplistic, I\'ve aimed it more or the newcomer, but I hope everyone finds something useful in there. If anyone thinks I\'ve missed anything, then please let me know. I\'ll keep developing this pack for future trackdays.
I\'ve written it forom my experience with an RX-8, so if there are useful RX-7 specific things to include (ie Neil must always pack spare hoses in case of water leak:Giggle) then let me know via PM, or on this thread.
Yes i get the whole too busy to get excited feeling.
Car got back from TW Whytes and is not 100% so if im jerking around in the pits at low speeds you no why its not that i cannot drive it just my spigot is buggered !!! lol
The racing clutch is nice when i actually let rip... :)
Fitted the carbon bonnet on saturday... and its makes a massive differnece to cooling as massive plumes of heat emanate from the vent.
Contemplating fitting the aem cai on sunday... :)
Been looking at the convoy timings.... looks sideways ...really... will be working tuesday... driving up after in less time than that ...:P
Excelent footage, was good to see it again. hopefully the weather stays dry
Hi chaps,
Just got back from a three days at Cadwell Park. BRSCC race meeting, not racing myself but tutoring three drivers racing in MX5\'s. The best of the bunch got a second place, his first time at Cadwell & only his 4th race meeting. Happy with that!
I am available for instruction on Wednesday if anybody requires. Done 1000\'s of laps of the place in all sorts of vehicles, from SuperKarts to Porsche Cup cars. I\'ve even jogged and cycled it several times over the years. If you want to make sure you don\'t prang your pride and joy by incorrect driving technique, or you simply want to fast-track your learning curve at the circuit, get in contact.
Thanks,
ADH
I may take you up on that.
Superb. If you are seriously interested you\'ll have to let me know sharpish as right now I\'m not planning on being there, but I could be if required.
My prices are competitive, cheaper than a set of tyres and much cheaper than repairing a damaged car..
Any questions you have about my instructing ability/style, contact David Wiltshire on here as I instructed him on a track day at RAF Odiham a couple of months back.
Thought my fronts would be good enough for another trackday but they where too shot for the prospect of rain. Got some fresh rubber this morning. Hopefully it will be sticky enough ! Gone from Kumho KU15 to KU31, just a stop gap because V70a are on back order !
Weather forecast is improving and may just be overcast for the day which will help with temps !
Shaun
Shaun
It does look like the weather is very uncertain for Wednesday. The forecast has improved in the past day or two - maybe just some light showers later in the day now. Tyres; I\'ve got 3 - 3.5mm tread all round, so expecting the day to finish those off pretty well if dry. If wet, I hope I\'ve got enough tread!
Remember that the TDO rules are asking for trousers and long sleeves; mind you, it\'s looking a bit cool for shorts and t-shirt!
Toyo R888\'s down to the ware bars in places if they are unseccessful then i guess its my Road tyres (sessantas) on my road rims
Well I changed the oil today and did a coolant flush/change. Even got the hoover out and did the inside of the car! I didn\'t get chance to clean the outside though. So she\'s looking a bit pink compared to last year. Other than that Im about ready now I think.
As well all know - a good coating of wax will do a lot to protect you from armco :Giggle
Ian.
Well mine\'s ready now bar a quick wash tomorrow and filling the tank. I could have done with being able to have short sleeves - no vents, fixed windows and lots of heat soak! Really looking forward to this now.
Are you bringing your camera again Ian? Would love to get some footage this time in my new car ;)
Shaun - where did you fill up before you arrived last time as me and Adrian are heading over in the morning.
Neil
The camera will be packed - video and stills :D
Ian.
I filled up at the Shell Station in Grimsby (You see it on the left as you go through) because the local tesco (DN36 4RJ) had run out of super. Might ring them before I set off tomorrow 08456779164 before setting off to see if they have super in stock.
I\'ll be setting off in the afternoon, probably between 2 and 3. Should get there for 6:30 ish !
Shaun
Just to say, real pleased with the support for the first event of the MRC track-day season,
I wish you all a great day out (whatever the weather) on Wednesday and I hope this will become the first of many events of this type where with the support of the club along with fellow Rotary enthusiasts to assist and encourage, you can all "legally" find out exactly what your cars can and can\'t do and then look to improve on the cars performance if you wish
Have fun out there :driving
That makes it sounds like your not attending clive?
He\'d better be, Clive\'s got bringing a spare set of brake pads and a set of asbestos gloves, just in case my rears expire :)
Yes, he\'ll be there, spitting flames at us all ;)
He\'s hoping to arrive at the hotel in time to join us for a meal on Tuesday night.
OK, better think about what I need to take with me tomorrow. Haven\'t bothered to clean the car as the forecast is for rain on the journey up!
Hmmm... this will be interesting.
I just cancelled my old car insurance and haven\'t taken out the new one yet - so I can\'t drive the car on the road. I\'m taking up REIS on their offer but the agent wasn\'t there when I called back at 5pm :(
Ian.
 Hope you get it sorted without too much hassle this morning Ian. REIS did want quite a lot of info from me (photos of car, NCD proof, "Car Limits" certificate, etc, etc), but were quite efficient in issuing a covernote, followed by a full certificate. They were very demanding/precise in wanting a full set of information, but very smooth changeover overall to REIS from Aviva.
Paul\'s still got his mountain bike available :Giggle
See you at the RV point................. hopefully :)
I\'ll be checking back in here until about noon, then I\'m on my way :wave
Great my first propper club track day with MRC/RX8OC and its looking like its going to be raining all day.
Done and done... I\'ll be driving up without problems :Thumbsup!
Ian.
Cheers Shaun, hopefully tesco will be open early!
Looks like we might get away with a dry morning and light rain in the afternoon although the forecasts vary a bit

Ahhh, Aston - so you\'re the one who\'s jinxed the day then :Giggle
Maybe the R888 "slicks" may not be the rubberwear of choice...... see you later:)
Ian :Thumbs-up

Neil, that\'s the concensus of the forecasts I\'ve seen, but I\'ve never seen so much rapid changing of the forecasts as we\'ve had over the past few days. I live in hope, as heavy rain was forecast for last Sunday in my location. Turned out to be a warm and humid day, no rain until gone 7pm in the evening. We went out for a open air show with all our wet weather gear and ended up in T-shirts all day. Forecast was TOTALLY wrong from only the evening before.

I just filled up before I got to the hotel and that lasted me the morning :D
Shaun
We\'re not staying over though so will be going through there about 7 tomorrow morning, looks like its 24hours though so should be fine.
OK, leaving now, see you there!
Thanks for a really good day. Great to meet everyone :D Still need to do more work on my car though !
Shaun
Quote from: shaunwil;698587Thanks for a really good day. Great to meet everyone :D Still need to do more work on my car though !
Shaun
Yeah echo that Shaun. What a great day. Car was good, weather was good company was well alright ish!
Good to see everyone. New faces and old.
Oh and Shaun Yes you need to work on your car to keep pace with my FC!
True, but I got twice the amount of tracktime before the rubber went off. Need more work on the suspension, brake bias (and pads), tyres and driver skill level.
Neil\'s car does show the way. It was so much more flat and controllable. The way it went through the corners was amazing !
Shaun
Yeah It sure does. Im sure yours can be sorted very easilly. A few little tweeks and it\'ll be dialed in. It can\'t feel any worse than my FC even now though!
think Im still on a bit of addrenalin rush. Whens the next one again!
It was a great day and we were lucky with the weather given the forecast. Was good to see everyone again and get a feel for what the new car can do. All I need to do now is learn to drive it!
Oh and I couldn\'t go without mentioning Shaun\'s attempt to take out the camera women by doing a spot of \'off-roading\' :rollin
You had to mention that :Giggle
I think once I get mine dialled in it should be much better !
Shaun
It was great to catch up with everyone and to see the 7s and 8s going around Cadwell again.
Andy - hope all is well with you and get in touch mate.
Ian.

Great day ,great people great track
A big thank you goes to Clive although I didn\'t need him
Clive helped anyone who needed it , your gave up your valuable track time to help them.
Andy it was a freak accident so don\'t let it put you off track days.
Paul
Thank you Clive for creating and promoting the trackday series, turnout was great and had some awesome fun on and off the track. Hopefully the next track day will be less eventful and you\'ll get to spend more time putting the yellow flame thrower through its paces! But thank you as always for being so generous with your time after I was black flagged for "the strange noises" coming from my car.
It was great to catch up with Shaun after he was tricked into coming with me as a passenger last year and also to meet Andy and Terry again after the last tunnel run that I attended. Hope that Andy made it home in one piece after his very unfortunate incident early in the morning.
Andrew: apologies, it wasn\'t until this morning during breakfast that I realized your connection with MRC as the editor of the RR magazine. Unfortunately I had used all my brain power to find Mallory Park on a traditional map earlier in the week and had none left to figure out who you were :D nevertheless it was lovely to meet you, when my katana\'s go blunt I\'ll borrow some of your wit ;)
Everyone else: thank you for making feel like the luckiest woman in the world for spending 3 days in the company of suck a great bunch of lovely guys.
Hope to see you all again soon!
Crissy
I got home safely a few hours ago, absolutely exhausted - so glad I stayed over the extra night!
This is largely a reprint of what I posted up on the RX8OC forum, so if you\'ve read that, do\'nt read any further:)
My thanks to all you guys (that term includes Crissy!) for coming along to make this such an enjoyable event. It\'s the camaraderie that exists amongst all the rotary owners that really made the whole outing so rewarding to be a part of. Whether you are shy and quiet (like me) or outgoing, everyone is made most welcome.
The weather couldn\'t really have been much better. With a dismal forecast of heavy rain turning out, in reality, to be a rain-free day, cool, but with occasional blue skies - perfect trackday weather. This was not just a (really) fun day on track, but a great social occasion too.
Special, very personal, thanks go to the spanner-wielding demons, Ian (Hypothermia) and Aston (Arnie_O), who had all the right tools and skills to changeover my entire set of brakepads this morning in the hotel pits (carpark). Thanks also to Crissy (CrissyUK) and Paul (Zarterone) for "being there" and giving me moral support whilst my baby was being taken apart! Thanks to the Hotel Manager for popping out and offering us tea and coffee whilst the work was underway in the pits (sorry, carpark). Finally, thanks to Clive (Clive :)) for bringing along a spare set of brakepads (I knew I\'d need them very soon, but not this soon!) and for his heroic levels of support to everyone who needed it, especiall Andy who had a most unfortunate coming together with a stretch of Armco very early in the day. Thanks mainly to Clive, with support from others, Andy was able to drive his car home safely. Ooops, nearly forgot to thank Nick Dougill (NickD) for arranging the day via MazdaOnTrack, and for his excellent tuition session with me. He certainly gave me confidence to take more speed into certain corners, which was immensely satisfying. His complimentary comments, whether warranted or not :) , makes you feel so much better!
^^That sounded a bit like an Oscar acceptance speech
I would urge anyone who has been thinking of doing their first trackday to either take the plunge (we\'ll make you most welcome and look after you), or simply come along to watch and take some passenger rides. Watch this forum for annoucements of the next trackday at Mallory Park in August.
:WaveBye
Blimey, I went to MACH 2010 at the NEC yesterday :D Shattered now though ! Drove another 250miles in the FB !
Shaun
Attention due to the fact i am currently feeling really lazy this is a shamless copy and paste job from my post over on the RX8OC
Ok.... From me now then. With this being only my second propper track day and first in conjunction with the MRC (i attended the silverstone/Stowe day in september) I was anticipating Cadwell with great expectations and slithtly crapping myself (no it was not due to the curry) due to my inexperiance on track. As Always i was made to feel very welcome by what luckily for me are many members of my local meets. And put at ease once i got on track for the sighting laps.
For any members thinking of doing track days then i would recoment coming along and seeing what they are all about first. I went along to the Brands Hatch day in December 2009 and just from riding shotgun and asking lots of questions i found the knowledge i gleened from the day very usefull when i finally got on track myself.
I would like to reiterate other members comments regarding the camaraderie of the whole trip and it almost felt like a family.
Sorry guys but my biggest and most deserved thanks and praise must go to Clive (my knight in orange rotary T-shirt) for giving his expert opinion and helping to fix my clutch problem after it gave out on me just before noon. I thought my day was over there and then and felt down in the pits (no pun intended) but after lunch he helped me bleed the clutsh slave cylinder and it felt even better than it did oirginally, I was back on the best track so far with a huge grin on my face. I really cannot believe how much of his day he gave up to help others get back out on the track you really where a one man pit crew.
So once again Clive (from Mazda rotary Parts) Thank you.
Thanks to Malcolm (Casey) and Nick (NickD) for organizing this, it definatly lived up to all the hype and talk that i have had to put up with for a year from those that did Cadwell Park 2009.
Malcolm it was no bother staying around and helping to get your pads changed, there was no way i was leaving for home and the convoy back without you. Hope i did an OK job of taking Point.
Thanks to Paul (Zarterone) for his support during my low period of clutch inactivity and letting me ride shotgun for a bit, and also to Ray (Harrizone) your tips helped wonders.
A Thumbs up must also go to Tom (Madder) for letting me use his spare Gallon of petrol to top my tank up for my last session of the day on the R888\'s, he did think i needed it to get back to the hotel but in reality it was to make sure i have good fule pick up on some of the hard corners as i at that time was down to a quarter tank having been out of action over lungh and not able to go refill. I still owe you some fule mate.
A big thanks to Will66 for firstly his donation of his old Toyo R888\'s and secondly for all his efforts and time spent e-mailing back and forth to organize for me to go up and collect them from his parants while he was away on an unplanned trip, you could have to easily just said "sorry make i am away you will have to sort yourself some other tyres out" but you did\'nt so thank you. Secondly for allowing me to feel the phenominal improvment in grip that thay gave me you where definatly right in what you said.... they are a fantastic tyre if not a little overpriced at the moment.
Finally Thanks to Ian (hypothermia) and Crissy (CrissyUK) for the great chat and freindship during the whole trip.
My final highlights of the Track sessions where a big grin i got from using the R888\'s and once they where fitted managing to overtake both and arial Atom (possibly on a warm up lap) but i dont care and a Porsche 944 and the biggest of them all was keeping up with Ray for a couple of laps.
Sorry this all seems long winded but it was a great trip and really demonstrated what the club is all about its so much more than what you think you get for your £30 its more than a spin mag, some discounts and access to the members area, and those that join and never attend these events and meets really are losing out.
I am knackered so from me this is spanner monkey 1 or 2 (in no pertigular order) signing out.

Thanks for those insightfil pictures Paul.
I was happy with the term Spin consultant

Do you think I get a response from Druck
Paul
Thx for posting up those pics of the pitstop crew Paul!

Shaun, his user name is Andy too! Shame it\'s the wrong side.....
Be aware he doesn\'t use the forum that much. I\'ll PM you his email address too.
only problem is the pics make it look like i just stood around making hand gestures and doing not much else.
That would be a most unfair characterisation. After all you did lend me a knee pad later :rollin
I\'m happy to say that despite the attempt to make me look entirely responsible for changing the brake pads, you did do half the work. :cheers
Ian.

OK, I\'ve now had a look at and crunched some of the numbers for the day (already posted on RX8OC, so no need to read any further if you\'ve already seen it).
Distance
Approx 300 miles of road to/from Louth, and 25 miles of travel to/from the circuit and getting petrol on the day.
100 miles of Cadwell racing circuit (about 45 laps).
Petrol
On the road about 18.30 mpg travelling to Louth
On the track about 7.95 mpg
Used approximately 57l of petrol on the circuit.
Oil
Total oil consumed: 1.0 litre
On the road: 0.3l estimated (the R3 takes about 1l per 1000 miles)
On the track: 0.7l (over 100 miles)
So about 7 times as much oil consumed on circuit as on the road (per mile). For the Protek-R users the total amount of oil consumed for road use equates to 250ml per tank, and circuit use is 750ml per tank.
Tyres
I didn\'t measure them before the track day, but the rears were new and are down about 1mm. The fronts have had less than 1mm (they had previously survived two Car Limits days as the rears). I was taking good care of the tyres :)
Pads
The front pair need replacing - the circuit is very heavy on the pads as the two main braking points are at Park (high speed) and Mansfield (downhill). I wasn\'t taking such good care of these ;)
You might get some slightly different numbers if you crunch them - I\'ve used petrol fill up points and known distances to extrapolate. Meh - geek stuff.
Ian.
Hi boys just like to start with a big thanks to everyone on the day.I was ....ed off but i will be back soon the car is being repaired right now.all the boy from fduk have being in touch thanks boy for your support.I got back home on probs thanks to the tire man for pulling out the front wing or i would have been stuck .terry , clive , andrew , ian , cassy and shaun for the help with my car and from fduk big ed , jd , nick the greek and jit for the phone calls i would like to add one more thing my rx7 rz was put me in touch with some top boys thanks to all :burnout bit like me on track
Hey Andy.
Glad things are going ok mate. and hope your 7 gets sorted out soon whatever the final decision.
will still be good to see you around man.
Andy - great to speak to you on Sunday/Monday on the phone and hear that things were progressing remarkably quickly in getting your car back on the road. I hope it all goes smoothly for you and I see you and the car at Rotorstock, if not before!
Take care.
Hey Andy, great to hear that the car is being sorted out quickly. Hope that you are OK too as you looked quite hurt immediately after the crash.
Look forward to seeing you again in your black monster at the next track day.
Big hugs,
Crissy
Got around to pullings pics out of the camera :Viking
Nice pic\'s Clive. FC\'s FTW!!!!!
Shame my camera was out of batteries on the day.

I have a shed load of photos from the day, what is everyone using to upload them nowdays Photobucket?
Pleasure to see the few people I had chance to meet on the day unfortunatly I had a big queue of passenegers so I didn\'t get to meet many people (though I saw plenty on track).
Glad to say the car survived all day with weakend exhaust hangers being the only casualty (the exhaust is now part resting on the chasis brace) and a stiff kick in the wallet.
My baby managed a stunning 4.7 MPG over the day which considering the poor RX8 owners who we\'re floundering around at the same consumption I must say I felt quite good. Needed 3/4 litre of oil and everything else got off scott free, used aout 50% of my tread on nearly fresh tires and about 20% off my pads also freshish. The wife and I were rather proud of her I must say.
Thanks very much to Casey, Clive and the MoT guys for organising this and getting my mate Mike out on track, it was an ace day and I look forward to seeing some more of you over the next few events. Also must say a thanks to Carl over at Hayward for setting up a nice useable responsive engine too.

Steve, it would be great to see your pics - use anything you are familiar with and post up a link here. I use Flickr, which I find very easy to use, but any freebie pic hosting provider will do.
Again, can\'t believe I missed you on the day! Look forward to seeing you and your car at a future event.
4.7 MPG  and I thought my 9-10 MPG was bad :Giggle
Just happened to be in utube crosslinking
