Title: brake line kits (for braided lines) or the specs please
Post by: FlikstRR on April 14, 2010, 01:27:04 PM
my ancient brake lines finally gave up the ghost under the stress of drifting last weekend and due to the fact we bodged a hydrolic handbrake system into the original lines when i first built the car.. we figured nows a good time to redo the lot...

SO...

I need to get s tonne of copper hosing, a ton of P clips and some braided lines for the wheels so they can flex under lock etc and not bend/snap.

The only kit ive seen is £55! from an ebay store..

Has anyone had any custom braided lines made up before from poeple like hose solutions or HEL?? if so can you remember the specs? ( the join sizes/types.. line length etc etc..)??

I want to redo the full system this weekend so looking to order today if possible. :yes

cheers Guys
Phil

Phil, there\'s a guy on FDUK who\'s just sorted a group buy of HEL FD brake line sets..... I wonder if he can get you the same but for the FC??!!

I\'ll try and find out bud.

That\'s right Andy and have just had a response from him, so I said I\'d pass on the details direct rather than being the middle man... ;)

oh right, i had no idea lol. Well if he cant get them to me over weekend then fine.. long as its early next weeke then i guess ill survive. Dont go thru silly effort for me.

we need to get the car moving again so i can get it to carl @ haywards.. however its going no where till it had brakes again.. so figure i might as well do my ....ty clutch too (slave issue with pedal dropping to floor etc) and replacing the clutch itself...

As long as the fit right on they no worries.. ill jsut wait for mine as im gettin clutch lines too. I\'ll be a stressy bugger if i wait till last min and the dont fit so im stuck!

we shall see!

well this now needs a new bump.

Round 2 of the BDC 2010 happened this weekend and after a ton of nightmares in general with the brakes and brake lines i replaced all of hte front system and all the way to the rear T piece... only to have the weak braided line that I ORIGINALLY wanted to replace.. split in half.

I lost all brakes during my top 8 qualification run which could have resulted in two written off cars!!

i then had no option but to MOLE GRIP the braided line shut (i have a pic ill post later) in order to complete the rest of my battles and to drive home! (I ended up 3rd btw :D )

so now i have to without fail, find a set of braided lines for the FC. Im tempted to get some custom lines made up but i was wondering if the off-the-shelf solutions are any good??

currently I can only find goodridge on ebay? Has anyone ever tried to or replaced brake lines on their FC?

Not good news that mate.
I had a braided hose made up for my trials bike a few years back by a local guy think it was around £15 made to my spec. Surely you can find someone near you who can do this also. It may or may not work out cheaper than the Goodridge ones but you\'ll get exactly what you want.
