Title: Single turbo conversion - £500 ish uuummmmm
Post by: gavink on April 13, 2010, 07:12:56 PM
Hi..

Was bored today so just been flicking around eBay etc...

Are we being major ripped off hear in the uk or are the parts they advertise on sites like E-bay just crap.

I mean look at e-bay item 130382845451   £260 for a GT35 turbo delivered!..

Ok I know it wont be the best but still for that money surely its worth a try!.

Also £90 for a single turbo manifold!..again it wont be HKS level quality but again for £90 it must be worth a try..

You can get a single turbo kit with oil lines etc for around £500-£600!..

I might just do it so see if the stuff is absolute crap or not.. watch this space :WaveBye

Thing is yes you do get what you pay for.... I put a kit together for myself, the problem is not with the Turbo and Manifold, i found the Pipe work, having a custom downpipe made and the Remap is where all my money went.

Also i went for named stuff mainly second hand so it was cheaper but i put allot of time and effort into getting the right Turbo.

i would do some research in to turbo\'s if i were you... that looks like a t3 flange... which most people say you should run a t4 on a rotary... secondly its a 0.63 ar thats stupidly small... you will run out of boost by 5krpm lol.

I remember watching a program with a VW Camper and he had a turbo off ebay. It failed instantly spraying oil everywhere and they said they saw a lot like them. The failure tag is removed from the turbo and is sold on the cheap.

If it looks too good to be true it most likely is !

A-spec do a cheaper GT35 thats non ball bearing but its still not cheap !

Hi... i know it was a small A/R but was just shocked over the very low price really... what about this one - 130379377073  T4, .68 A/R and even cheaper lol.

I doubt ill do it but i really am tempted..Can get the manifold and turbo for £310!.. costs me more than that for 2 tyres!!!

My garrett T04 that I sold/swapped with speedline imports for his MX7 was 0.6ar front end, 1.15ar rear, you need to go big for rotaries, loads more exhaust gasses

Don\'t forget to add the ECU and remap ontop

also worth thinking about where these turbos are made. just as you get fake BOVs, there are Chinese companies making cheap .... turbos held together with glue and then stamped "Garrett".
