Title: Getting into Rx7s
Post by: sk8ter646 on April 08, 2010, 08:59:27 PM
Hi there i am currently a honda man, but after going out for a spin in a friends RX7 i am craving one of my own,

i am looking at getting a project Rx7. i am really looking for rx7 with decent mecanics but a beat up exterior (have a few plans up my sleeve) and having done a simliar project on my current civic i am not phased by a little body work. althought i am also not phased buy doing mechanics and if a car came up for the low enough price i wouldnt say no.

so if any one knows of any suitable RX7s around or even better some one with an RX7 looking to swap or similar with my 1997 Milano Red Civic with a rather long modifications list feel free to give me a should.

my email is sk8ter646 (at) me (dot) com

Thanks

There are many ex honda guys moved onward into the rotary, me being one of them.

This site is very informative and helpful so ask plenty questions and research like crazy, as to what initial car you buy will either win you over or break your wallet.

I bought wisely after travelling all over the country and viewing many many cars and my fd has been equal to my dc2 for reliabilty and far far exceeded it as far as thrilling enjoyment goes.

Search and research dude.

personally the main thing i\'d look for is a good rust free shell. Maybe it\'d be worth buying a tidy car with a blown motor and dropping another in.

anyhu, good luck!

would it be recommend to buy a working engine or rebuild the blown engine?

Difficult... If you buy a blown one and rebuild it you know what you are getting and can port it during the build, BUT you might buy a blown engine and find it\'s not easily rebuildable because of terminal damage to the housings, so costs can increase unexpectedly.

Usually cheapest to buy a car already close to the spec you want with a well docmented build history and work done by recognised experts.
