Hi everyone!
With the summer coming, I\'ll be looking at doing some more track days in my FD3S (when I get it running again anyway)
I was just wondering what track day tyres people are using. I\'ve looked at the Toyo R888, but they\'re not exactly cheap. There\'s also Yoki\'s, and the Federal SS595RS that I can\'t seem to find in the right size anywhere.
On my hunt, I\'ve also found some Nitto NT-01 that look pretty impressive, they\'re essentially made by Toyo, but not available in the UK.
Has anyone used the Nitto\'s? What are the general views on what\'s good?
Thanks!
i have subscribed to a few of the US mags before, super street and stuff like that and all they do is rave about nitto, not sure if this is cause they are good or cause of sponsorship
I\'ve seen that too; they\'re raved about, but it seems like a little too much...... I mean, I saw some tested on a \'73 Camero.......... how much difference can rubber make to that sleek, road holding, featherweight of a car? :)
But then saying that, Toyo\'s track day tyres are pretty good??
Tyres are the only thing that keeps the car on the road/track and also affect acceleration, personally I wouldn\'t skimp on tyres, go for some tested ones that you know are good, I mean you upgrade the brakes and everything on the car, so why not the only thing that allows you to put the power down?
Hi m1tch, I\'m not looking to skimp, I\'m just wondering what the general view was on track day rubber and if anyone has used the Nitto\'s.
Toyo are a pretty well respected brand and they\'re tyres do perform pretty well (I\'m currently using their T1R proxes or whatever they\'re called, but I\'m not using the car on the road anymore and I want something more focused). But the Nitto\'s, by all accounts, are said to be designed and manufactured by a performance enthusiast arm of Toyo and branded seperately. I\'m not sure why we can\'t buy these over here.......
Anyway, with a lot of MRC users doing track days I assume, I was hoping for feedback on tyres on the whole, whose found what suitable, tread wear, grip, value for money. It\'s all very well reading the magazine articles etc, but feedback from actual users would be better.
Maybe I\'ll just go for the Toyo\'s!
well you could always move up to using toyo r888 road legal half slicks, they are a very popular choice
